Amendola - Limited w/Groin Injury

LOL @ people defending Amendola's injuries after only completing 1 of 4 seasons. And can't even start week 1 this season without being on the injury report.

He never missed a game due to injury his first two years. Yes, he only played 14 games his rookie season, but he was a healthy inactive his first two games of his career. The guy has had two injuries in four years that have made him miss games.

Yeah insulting a news network's style of reporting and coverage isn't political unless you are so uptight that the mere negative mention of anything connected to the republican pantheon is viewed as an all out assault.

Thanks for proving my point.

Really? Didn't he have a heel injury that kept him out part of week 12 last season vs the Cards and all of the 49'ers game week 13 last season? I Thought so. Make that 3 injuries that kept him out of games in 4 years. If you are going to correct me someone get it right.

Well, I missed a third injury. That changes everything. Two injuries in 4 years = no big deal. Three injuries in 4 years = huge injury risk. I officially have gone from not being concerned at all to wanting the Pats to sit him for the first 17 weeks to keep him healthy for the playoffs assuming a splinter from the bench making him lose a butt cheek.

So let's look at this way

Welker's ACL tear washes Amendola's dislocated arm out. Because had Welker done it Week 1 he would have been done for the whole season and had Amendola done it Week 17 he wouldn't have missed any games.

Then there is also the fact that had Amendola's dislocated arm happened in '12 or beyond he would have never missed 15 games.

BTW, Amendola was full participation today and listed as Probable. Ironically, Amendola and Welker had the same practice type of schedule and injury designation due to injuries this past week.

Do I miss Welker? Undoubtedly. Do I think it was a mistake to let him go? Yes, and I do believe BB should have locked him up shortly after the 11' season ended. However, he's gone. And nothing short of the Denver FO drinking a ton of lead water and cutting him is going to bring him back.

In regards to Amendola, this whole "AMENDOLA IS A WALKING IR SPOT" premonitions are a bit exaggerated and premature in my book. I'd rather wait until he's sidelined for an extensive period of time (3+ consecutive weeks or so) before I start jumping off buildings.

Yep time to change the thread title

So you want to say Amendola who has not finished a complete season the past two seasons.. Wait! Let me rephrase... You want to say Amendola who has played in but not completed 12 out of 32 games the past two seasons is going to be dependable? OOOOOOOOOkaaaaayyyyy! Oh, and he already missed the most important preseason game of them this season and several practices. Wow. Please remove those rose colored glasses. Hope your other 26k posts haven't been this bad.

Maybe if it wasn't for freak injuries he would be fine. Give it time this season, Tom is the reason why welker wasn't hurt seriously. Same with gronk freak injuries and all of a sudden injury prone when they played 2 full seasons before.

Year 1--played the entire season and led the NFL in kick return yardage. Had over 40 catches as a rookie

Year 2--played the entire season. Had 85 catches

Year 3--was injured in the first game and missed the year

Year 4--played in 11/16 games and had 63 catches. Had a collarbone injury and missed a handful of games

Other than ONE injury, he has only missed 5 other games in his four season career. Some of you pessimistic people are making way too big of a deal about a guy hurting his elbow back in 2011.

If he was so "made of glass" than how the hell did he come back from a potentially career threatening injury last season in less than a month?

It's your choice to worry so much, but I'm going to wait until after the next season of 2014 before developing a big enough sample size to make the "made of glass" evaluation myself.

And Aqib Talib is going into his SIXTH season this year and has never completed or finished an entire season at the end...so what?

If you want to worry about a player who has nagging injuries, look towards Talib's ailments of constant hip and hamstring injuries in his first 5 yrs.

Yet somehow he was the #1 available CB this year in the entire NFL in free agency. Go figure....there are actually coaches and GM's out there who understand that injuries are part of the game, and 3 different teams offered him very nice multi year deals to boot. One of them our own Bill Belichick.

Like I said before, I can appreciate both sides of the debate, but let's not over do it either.

If people wish to worry all the time, that's their right. Hell, I can even agree on some level, but when you look at the whole big picture there are plenty of reasons to think that he can contribute and play in the high majority of games too.

If he should miss a handful of games in the next couple of yrs I won't really feel any differently than Spikes (has started 29/48 games here), Hernandez, Gronkowski, Talib, Edelman, or any other guy who has missed time more than once.

Injuries happen in a game played at this level and speed, and if he hadn't been injured in 2011 and missed the entire year we may not even have been able to afford him because some other team may have overpaid for him. He obviously has a lot of potential.

I'm honestly faaarrr more worried about the sordid state of our safeties (save for DMC) than if Amendola will produce or not. Hell even CB depth, DT depth, and DE depth are bigger concerns than Amendola.

He finished 9 games in 2 seasons (32 games) missed some several practices already, missed 3rd preseason game (most important) didn't play preseason game 4 on the injury report week 12...... and we let Welker go why?

and we let Welker go why?
Because he and his agent completely overestimated the market for his services and the Pats moved on?
