I have said this before, including when he signed, and I will say it one final time: If Tim Tebow is going to make this team, he and the coaching staff better find another role whether it is on special teams, H-Back, tight end or long snapper, because it is not as a quarterback.

we are set at HB, Long snapper, and tight end, and dedicated special teams.

I heard there was an opening on the Musket line.

Just to play devil's advocate since the consensus for 'cut TT' is virtually 100% (and I'm not saying that is undeserved), consider this hypothetical for next week's game: TFB plays one series. Mallett then comes in but BB plays him only 1 series (and it's a quick series). From there BB decides to play TT for the remainder of the game. TT's box score is (let's say): 66% completion rate on 14 attempts, 185 yards, 2 TD passes, no INTs and he uses his running to convert a first down or two. IF that happens is his status with the team worth reconsidering?

That's up to Bill and Josh. For what it's worth, I think they look at things differently than a lot of posters here and for that matter, differently than a number of other coaches in the league.

Who knows? Tebow might get cut tomorrow. Then again, he might still make the final 53 and be carried as a QB.

They may look at things differently but one thing that they will definitely see is how unready and unsure he is out on the field and how the game appears to be too fast for him in this offense as a passing quarterback.

And when it is apparent to guys like me - you can bet that it will be extrapolated to guys like BB, McDaniels and the entire Patriots coaching staff.

He is not processing anything on the field well.

nah...Brady plays the 1st half..one series in the 2nd if things are smooth...more if they look sloppy...Mallett finishes...or perhaps Tebow...I have no clue what the agenda is beyond Brady getting his reps in game three

Game four is Tim Tebow time...

then, the final cuts...Tebow walks off the field after the 4th preseason I think it's pretty clear he's here for the year.I'd rather have that spot taken up by an O lineman that can back up multiple positions...but it's their call so I guess we'll all have to just sit and biatch until we see what's behind door # 3, right?

True. And if they were evaluating him to be the starting QB, it would be more of a concern. IF they are looking at having him as the #3 and trying to develop him, then they might take that in stride.

With respect, we've "known" Bill and Josh for a long time. Of course, there are times when roster moves are made that we don't understand. Josh could decide to keep Tebow. However, it seems very, very unlikely. As others have said, we'd be better off signing one of the free agents out there, especially a youngster for the Practice Squad.

We were challenged when Tebow was signed. We finally recognized that this situation COULD BE like Mallett and Hoyer with a competition for this year and into next. Belichick gave it a shot. Josh failed. He IS the quarterback coach. I think that we get to watch this for two more weeks.

No. The league has seen him and they will destroy him and the running backs.

It's possible to have one good game passing, but consistently? No and the league knows it.

Just got home from the game and was wondering if Tim looked as spectacularly bad on television as he did in person. Fantastic young man who should have a great future in Christian missionary work.

Why would they try to "develop" him when there are hundreds of guys who can actually throw throw the ball?

You people are in denial.

Tune - I have watched a lot of football.

I witnessed the "Air Santos" show at Case High School in the 1980s. I watched all sorts of college football both live and on the tube.

And - the 2nd half performance of Tebow tonight was truly the worst showcase that I have ever seen from a quarterback.

And - I do mean ever.

Brady looked pretty good, eh Tunes?

So did Amendola. My memories of that Wax Wickler guy are getting really hazy.

told ya....what a great summer night for a football game...jealous

This whole situation smacks of favoritism at best. I just read that Tebow had been a lock to make the team before this. Based on what, I wonder? He's a nice guy, he knows God personally? He earned nothing up to this point and has earned a bus ticket out of town based on the last two weeks.

Players should be judged on performance first, not on their religion or public relations wonderfulness. It's wrong.

That's all quite possible. It's also possible that they have some longer term view, and aren't going to react to this game the way many people here are.

We'll find out soon enough. Either Tebow will be cut at some point, or he'll be on the roster.

yes and no. Performance definitely comes into play, but there are other things to take into consideration as well. Things that have nothing to do with religion or public relations wonderfulness.

I've seen guys who were stupidly productive yet have gone from job to job. Why ? Because they are jackasses and create a seriously negative work environment.

Now, I'm not one for handing out little gold stars to everyone who tries real hard. I mean, in the end, there has to be some level of productivity, but it isn't the sole measure of who makes it.

I definitely agree with your assessment. The question I would ask is, are the Patriots going with 2 or 3 QBs on the 53 man roster? My assumption is BB will go with 2. If that is the case then I don't see how TT makes the final roster (especially considering what he has showed against TB and PHL). It's going to have to be an amazingly big turn around in his last 2 preseason games to have BB even remotely entertain the idea of keeping him around only as a QB.
But I'll say this: IF TT can show some improvement over the next 2 games, IF BB is actually open to going with 3 QBs, IF TT can more than adequately 'pitch in' elsewhere like STs (that's 3 big IFs), TT could earn himself a roster spot.
One thing I would think TT could do is play the role of opposing 'running/passing hybrid QB' for practice. Teams need to be much better practiced/prepared for the Colin Kapearnicks, RG3s, Russell Wilsons et al. With due respect to those guys (and they deserve the respect), no way should that many first year starting QBs make that many opposing pro defenses look so bad that many times over the span of only 1 season. Considering how big/difficult the jump is from college to pro for every position(especially QB), their success was in part due to defenses simply being unpracticed/unprepared. But is having a guy like TT a special benefit to that practice/preparation or is any agile body from the practice squad just as sufficient?
