Two positions come to mind.

DEFENSIVE TACKLE
We are an injury away from Forston starting, with Grissom or Vellano active as a game day backup.

OFFENSIVE GUARD
This is somewhat a lesser need since we are now clear that Svitek and Cannon are fine backups. Obviously, Cannon might even beat out Connolly. Things are fine IF EVERYONE is healthy, or almost everyone. Zusevics seems to be the incumbent who will win this roster spot. We should remember that Cannon and Svitek are primarily tackles.

The open question is when our OL will be fully healthy. We starting our #5 OG in the last preseason game.

OFFENSIVE TACKLE
This is not one of my two since I don't think that there will be much value available. Besides, we have both Cannon and Svitek.

I've felt that DL was a key weakness at least in terms of depth since prior to the draft. Apparently, Belichick feels differently.

I suppose it will all depend on how he views players such as Cunningham etc too. It's obviously an area that may be added to.

Actually I so believe BB wanted a DT but only in the first round. Unfortunately the three good ones were gone already and while this years draft was deep the drop off of DT talent from 1st to 2nd was very large. There was simply too much value at other positions.

I agree. At THAT point, the team had Wilfork-Kelly-Love-Forston-Deaderick-Armstead.

Belichick would likely see more value in low level free agents than in using a #2 or #3 draft choice. Besides, it is difficult to argue with Belichick's drafting of a coverage linebacker, 2 WR's and 2 DB's.

DT is definitely a big need, since you can't count on any contribution from Armstead. CB is just as dire, depth-wise. Couldn't hurt to have another linebacker that can cover (although this could be Fletcher).

We hope to meet this need with Fletcher, Collins and A. Wilson. But yes, there is still an open LB roster spot available if we wish.

I'm not terribly worried about any of the starter spots frankly.

As for backups, I wouldn't bank on a waiver wire guy walking through the door to be a monumental improvement over what's already here but ..... you never know I guess.
