Kenbrell Thompkins

I dunno. Let's ask Drew Bledsoe.

that's ridiculous. amendola was just signed a few months ago. bledsoe was on the team since 93' before getting benched. do you think dobson is going to come in and be brady-esque? odd's are that's not going to happen. you bench amendola, you have Dobson, Thompkins, Boyce and Edelman as your receivers. Somehow I think that a coach that benched steven ridley during his rookie year right before the super bowl probably would want some veteran presence on the field.

Finally watching the game.

First thought: on Thompkins first catch, which relied on timing, I don't think I saw Brady throw a ball like that so soon to either Ocho or Lloyd! You can tell, TFB likes him!

The fact that(according to espnboston.com) he was telling boyce and another receiver where to line up during a called play is really a very +ve thing for the kid.Tells us , he seems to get this offense.

Thompkins had some real serious trouble in high school, armed robbery and drug dealing. He went to a Jr college then signed with TN before transferring to Cincy. Got screwed by the NCAA (what's new) in having to sit out a year, but his coach could change his mind without penalty.

There is nothing I've seen about trouble in Jr. College or college. Let's hope that he has turned his life around. I always root for some to the UDFA's to make it. From what I've seen so far he looks to make the 53.

Saw someone post he hasn't been arrested since 2008 and the trouble stopped when he moved out of Liberty City? (that name brings back GTA game memories which doesn't help my mental image of where the guy grew up!)

There was an article posted here about Thompkins' early troubles and the good news the trouble didn't just stop after he left Liberty City, he made a conscious decision to change his life around especially after seeing his younger brother succeed. No arrests, no hint of any trouble since 2008.

Really?

Drew Bledsoe had been the face of the franchise for a decade, and just signed a ten year, 103 million dollar contract and Belichick benched him for a 6th round no-namer. Lets not rewrite history and act like Brady was the #1 overall pick and a sure-fire HOFer and Bledsoe was some scrub on the last year of his contract. He had JUST SIGNED a record breaking deal and was the face of the franchise for a decade and Brady was a 6th round pick.

You really think Belichick would blink for a second at the thought of benching Amendola for a younger, healthier, better option?

You're just looking foolish now.

Armed robbery in HS? AH didn't even do that  ;)

You're the one rewriting history. Bledsoe wasn't benched, he got hurt and lost his job. If Amendola goes down for an extended period of time and one of the young receivers comes in and plays at a Pro-Bowl level, as happened with Brady, then yeah, I can seen Amendola losing playing time to him. Otherwise, I think it's extremely unlikely he'll be outright benched, unless he completely fails to grasp this offense, which doesn't seem to be the case.

Are we seriously using the Bledsoe-Brady example as a reason why Amendola could be leap frogged by a rookie? Disappointing Patsfans.com, disappointing.

we really talking about the best, most seasoned, most trusted, option on a young, inexperienced, and raw receiving corps getting benched in favor of a 3rd round pick? I'd say that we have a better chance of seeing McCourty unseated by Harmon or dare I say, Sudfeld unseating Gronk.

2. Kenbrell Thompkins, New England Patriots wide receiver

Regular NFL.com readers are already familiar with the undrafted free agent turned training camp darling. NFL Network analysts Daniel Jeremiah and Mike Mayock have turned in glowing reports after viewing Patriots practices, and Gregg Rosenthal has consistently sung Thompkins' praises on the Around The League Podcast. The question entering camp was whether Thompkins would emerge as the team's top offensive rookie. Three weeks later, many are wondering if he can challenge Danny Amendola as the best all-around receiver.

Half a quarter of preseason play and a dozen practices = stone cold HoF lock.
