Re: Re: Semi-OT: Wes Welker compares Brady and Manning to Picasso and Michelangelo

I always thought Brady looked a little like Michelangelo...

Michelangelo C. Hall maybe..

I'd go with Brady as Picasso.

Tremendous work ethic, constantly working on his technique.
An innovator.
Not recognized immediately as a genius, only as he continued to produce. Early in his career, his Cubist style was seen as less impressive - basically "a canvas manager," not a great artist.
Based on his popularity, married a hot Russian ballerina. Definitely seen as a lady's man.

Michelangelo - immediately recognized as a huge natural talent as a teen-ager.
Highly sought after by top power brokers.
Little bit of a diva, famously arguing with his employers.
Started a number of impressive works, but often had trouble completing the project - such as Pope's tombs.
Left Florence after getting huge acclaim for the success of David for Rome.
Late in his career was brought in to put a cap on the powerful foundation of St Peter's Cathedral. He was just the leader needed to finish the job.
Yeah, not really a lady's man.
With a broken nose, had an elongated face.

Michelangelo had a better play off record. He also was a cooler ninja turtle.

OK, seriously. Painting a ceiling is move impressive. It is as hard as taking a team where Reche Caldwell is your top receiver to the AAFC. Seriously, paint dripping in your eyes and you continue to do details that make the ceiling a masterpiece?

(BTW, I'm biased against Picasso. He was French and therefore over rated.)

Pablo Diego Ruiz y Picasso was French?
He did work and hang out in Paris quite a bit.

I thought he was French. Maybe he just "found himself as an artIst" in Paris.

I remember his quote (from memory, don't kill me if it is off a bit) upon hearing about the fall of the Maginot line. "The German generals have beat the French generals: now the German artist must beat me."

From that quote I assumed he was French.

I dont know. I think these artists were the rockstars of the Middle-ages. I dont image they had any trouble getting any.

:rocker:

...not to veer too far off topic, let's just say that Michelangelo was very reclusive regarding his private life, as one had to be in his situation, and that he was never married or linked to any women.

For anyone with interest in Michelangelo's views on attractive women, Google "Michelangelo Night Medici Tomb."

Back to the analogy at hand, Michelangelo was very private with his relationships, while Picasso was dating famous dancers.
