Dennard arrested for DUI

Show me all the players who were sentenced to prison time and then less than 4 months later were arrested for something else.

Go ahead, I'll wait.

That's the problem, the seriousness of the original charge that he was put on probation for in the first place, along with the fact that he repeated some of the same habits in the new crime.

That said, the other side of the coin would be the fact that he was in a bar fight and hasn't been yet convicted of the more common charge of DUI.

In my opinion, this is a bit of a strange and unique situation not only for the judge but also for the team. Could this be a sign of a habitual offender or someone who isn't going to learn, or is it closer to some of the "normal" bad decisions that many of us have made in our early 20's?

You do realize that if you cut every player on an NFL roster with infractions roughly equivalent to what Dennard has, you wouldn't be able to field teams, right?
The only difference between this and all those other players is having a murderer for a former teammate.

uh...while I agree with your post for the most part..the difference is, you have a murderer for teammate, now ex, and he's plastered all over the national news and YOU, on probation, pick up another charge a few weeks later. THAT opens you up to what many would consider unfair judgement, as you say, BUT, uh, let's not just la dee dah this like..oh well shyt happens...this is an IDIOTIC stumble by Dennard...if he gets cut because of it, that's tough. Don't friggin drink and drive at 2 in the morning in Lincoln, Nebraska, United Sheets Of America...how can you NOT KNOW what you're doing is just BEGGING for trouble?...Dennard isn't the only DB capable of filling his position. Normal situation normal year, yeah, cut the guy a break...but THIS? It doesn't just go away...the ESPN/NFLN gossip festival will run THIS along with Hernandez all friggin' year and you know it. He gets time and is set to miss camp and any part of the season...screw it...move on.

this is a good sign that dennard may not have done anything as substantial as actually being drunk while driving and don't be surprised that the patriots have shared in this information with the commissioner's office so that they see that dennard wasn't drunk.

homer!!!!!

Good to hear. Hopefully he can stay out of trouble from here on out.

Im glad, it wasn't a violent crime and there is no hard evidence that he was even drunk. Seems like a slam dunk case for a highly paid legal team, which I'm sure Dennard has access to.

Hes a starting quality CB, which aren't easy to come by these days. I could look past a transgression like this, especially if he isn't found guilty of anything.

Good. Agree with the sentiments above. If not for the Hernandez situation, we wouldn't be talking about cutting Dennard right now. Gotta let it play out and see what happens before making any decisions.

Honestly, Dennard seems like a decent guy with some really bad decision making combined with some bad luck. Gronk's out there getting hammered at just as an alarming rate, I'm sure, it just happens he has been less of an idiot about it than Dennard (amazing) and hasn't gotten into any trouble.

This is not Aaron Hernandez carrying on a double life for years.
Starting CBs do not grow on trees.

What bad luck?

We see the Pats are going to keep him.....now it's time for Goodell to lay down the punishment soon.

I expect a 4 game suspension.

What bad luck?

His behavior (drinking, and apprently heavily) is common enough amongst people his age, the consequences of those actions have been more severe towards him than most. Obviously, he is to blame for a large part of that, but there is certainly an aspect of randomness that has not worked in his favor so far.

I'd be considering it, assuming the DUI is legit, but I appreciate I'm in the minority here.

There's a little bit of bad luck but you don't need any luck if you don't drive at all after having a couple of drinks. I would think the Pats and the league let this play out before any action is taken against him just in case its a case of overzealous cops, not saying that's my opinion but its a he said he said and Id want to see all the facts before making a decision.

He shouldn't be drinking and driving period. Plus he isn't setting a good example for all those who look up to him.

Absolutely correct , no reason to cut him though. Let's hope he can finally mature.

if you think I'm looking up to a Dennard you got sand in your holy water...I'm 5 inches taller and 40 years older...

We just need him to stay out of jail. We can hardly expect Dennard to be a role model for anyone.

a role model is what he NEEDS...
