true, keeping quiet, not allowing any searches without a warrant, and in general being unhelpful as law enforcement probes your involvement is in fact wise, in most cases.

But destroying your home security system and smashing your cell phone to bits, if true, certainly rise to the level of being irresponsible. It's why obstruction is a felony.

Obstruction is not a crime because breaking stuff is irresponsible. Hell, it's not only responsible, it's often going to be a smart move. Obstruction is a felony because the government doesn't want its job made harder.

This just in... ABC TV is reporting that a rabbit ran across the front lawn of Aaron Hernandez's house. Authorities say that the rabbit is currently not a suspect, but has not yet been cleared as a potential suspect. Story is still developing....

Just for the record - I read what some of you guys have said about Steve Balestrieri. Not cool. He was reporting an update from what was reported by WBZ-TV.

Don't blame Steve that WBZ was unable to confirm that the arrest warrant was only prepared and not issued because Aaron, frankly, was not available or located in order to have the warrant issued.

Does anyone not think that Aaron's attorney is working on those arrangements right now because the warrant has been prepared.

And if the report is accurate and correct that he is being charged with Obstruction, then the only thing that I have to say about that is I told you so.

I wish this was not happening because Aaron was entrusted by the Kraft family and BB to be one of the guys that was the face of this franchise and the Myra Kraft Foundation with his charitable contributions and is suppose to be a vital cog of this offense.

However, I am not a pom-pom fan like some of you. I chose to deal in reality and the reality is what it is. Hernandez is involved in some way, shape or form and you pom poms better hope that the obstruction charge is MSP's way of getting him to cooperate rather than seeking a direct charge of Murder in the 1st or 2nd Degree.

ok.....where to start.....what did AH break?

He is toast.......regardless of outcome.......guilt by association in something like this is more than sufficient cause......say goodbye to him...his simply being there is sufficient damnation

Nice that you have determined what he has committed already. We can save a lot of money on investigation.

He hasn't even been ACCUSED yet.

If you can't see the obvious attempt by the media here to frame events to tell the juiciest story then you should probably take some classes on social engineering.

Then I guess Hernandez will have a field day in court suing them one by one for defamation.

He doesn't need to break any rule.
The team will cut 37 or more players this year, and do not need to justify the reason.

Your opinion is noted.

the point was about contract termination and the possibility of the pats recouping $$ and avoiding a cap hit

his association with this event has pretty much ended his career with the pats......this brand of stupidity has no spot on a roster

Again: I fail to see how waiting for factual facts makes some of us "pom-pom fans."

Seems like a lazy and rather uninspired ad hominem if you ask me.

You're the lawyer, and I'm not sure about Massachussetts law, but isn't Obstruction of justice a misdemeanor in most states? Or is it a matter of degree on how the obstruction is applied, like lying to an investigator. (Like Martha Stewart case of lying to federal investigators.)

Since when do the police have to know where a person is before they can issue a warrant? They need to find the person to serve the warrant, not issue it.

UFB.

See: Ray Lewis. Obstructing justice was just about the smartest thing that he ever did; very likely that it's the reason why he isn't in prison today.

It depends on what you are obstructing. If you are obstructing a murder investigation, that's a felony.

You missed a part:

Until he's charged with something, it's a little premature.

chew on this:

•Conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL, NFL clubs, or NFL players.

his just standing there is sufficient cause

STANDARD OF CONDUCT

While criminal activity is clearly outside the scope of permissible conduct, and persons who engage in criminal activity will be subject to discipline, the standard of conduct for persons employed in the NFL is considerably higher. It is not enough simply to avoid being found guilty of a crime. Instead, as an employee of the NFL or a member club, you are held to a higher standard and expected to conduct yourself in a way that is responsible, promotes the values upon which the League is based, and is lawful. Persons who fail to live up to this standard of conduct are guilty of conduct detrimental and subject to discipline, even where the conduct itself does not result in conviction of a crime

Richard Jewell sure did. Of course, his life had already been pretty much ruined by the time he was able to get to that point.

But let's all pretend that the media doesn't deliberately kick up a storm about pretty much every juicy celebrity 'incident' they can. It's not as if they do things like jumping get the weapons wrong (CT), or naming the wrong perp (Boston), or anything crazy like that.

Gunshots can definitively be heard that far away. I live a mile away from hunting grounds and sometimes it sounds like they're a hundred yards away.

Depending on where you measure to, the closest section is just over 1100 ft away and the farthest point is just over 2800 ft away. You could, most definitely, be awakened by gun shots that close. Particularly if it was a larger caliber weapon and multiple shots.

Obstruction of Justice through the spoliation of evidence can be a top count charge based on the crime which in this case would be a 1st Degree Murder charge because he acted as an accessory.

I may not be the average since I have been around guns my whole life by hunting, shooting competitively etc, but you can kinda tell what the difference is between fireworks and gun shots IMO.

this is mass though, a lot of peoples only experience with guns is from a movie, they aren't going to be able to tell the difference from a .45 to a .22 to a 12 gauge to something with a fuse from NH. Didn't a mass politician even once say hi capacity magazines should be banned then when all the bullets are shot out of them there are no more and the world is safer? Thats the kind of stupidity that goes on here with guns.

Then I guess Hernandez will have a field day in court suing them one by one for defamation.

There's no suing to be done because telling someone you're going to beat them up is a threat. But, again, it's in the carefully chosen language where there are implications that push a certain narrative forward.

Example:

Wes Welker was involved in a minor scuffle in the weight room.
Aaron Hernandez threatened Welker.

There's no defamation suit to be had there, because both are technically accurate, but each one puts forward a different story when you read between the lines and especially when worded a certain way in light of recent events and media allegations.

Beyond that - what is impossible about the scenario I presented? What if Aaron's only role in all of this is using drugs and trying to destroy the evidence. How is that impossible? What if it wasn't even drugs or anything illegal, what if he and his two buddies had a big old gay threeway and he didn't want that getting out? What if his phone was loaded with hot penis pictures and he didn't want his friends, family and fans to know how much he loves wang?

You're only saying all of this is impossible because you're only accepting the media narrative. There are plenty of explanations other than Aaron eating Lloyd's eyes after stabbing him 3000 times and then having a professional clean-up crew sent by Putin to clean the murder dungeon in his mansion.
