Complete crap, IBBWT, as a mantra is stupid if it means he is all knowing and above making any mistakes or criticism. I am seriously pissed about the way he handled Welker and believe he screwed it up badly and for no reason but I would still maintain that he is the GOAT and that there isn't anybody else I would choose over him. I have had many arguments with the draft know it alls*who trash his drafting, and have even called for him to be replaced in that regard, because while he has weaknesses in drafting at WR and DB he still does well enough to keep them at the top of the heap while rebuilding his entire team. Belichick is great but he isn't perfect, and he had flaws, his ego being one of them.

Word up is that Belichick hates foot jokes. Really hates them.

*By draft know it alls I am referring to those who actually claim they can do it better and those who rip him for not taking guys who ended up panning out over those he picked but never show the posts from before those drafts where they called for them to pick them.

Welker to Denver should really help them get rings.

You mean the team with the 37 yr old QB with nerve damage in his throwing hand who cannot grip a ball in temps under 40 degrees????

OK.

Meanwhile Adrian Wilson and Jon Abraham are in Foxboro tomorrow for visits, Fanene's bonus money is coming back and the Pats have lots of cap space.

T-E-A-M. It's a 53 player thing, you wouldn't understand.

Well it's good to see that you understand what a lousy team player Welker was.

Lmao, the same people who were shrieking about wanting to get rid of old Wes Welker, and are now pointing at old Peyton Manning want Wilson and Abraham? Good to see the Patriots get rid of the 31 year old to bring in those young guys.

I don't care for that glib little twinky-dinky Gasper.

all I want to know is why is he always gasping when he's on air?????????????

His name explains all. He hyperventilates hyperbole.

Sheer comedy!

Group A is ripping management for not signing Welker.

Group B is defending management for giving us a competitive team year in and year out.

Group A calls Group B homers because they have bought into some BB brainwashing or whatever, claiming that rings are all that matter.

Group B explains to Group A that WWW just wasnt getting us rings.

Group A wants it both ways. All that matters is rings but how dare they get rid of a guy who couldnt get us one and in all sincerity cost us one.

Which is it?

Not one player from the Patriots since 2004 has gotten "us" the rings, so your argument is a truly poor one. It's probably the worst in a field of poor arguments on all sides of the issue.

Where did I say players have gotten up rings since 2004? The FO wants to win. They have a formula. The overall success rate of the franchise speaks volumes. Their methods work and have made this team elite. IMO they should continue that winning formula despite unpopular moves i.e. Welker, Semour, Milloy, AV, etc..

People now want them to veer from it because of sentimental feelings towards certain players. Stat obsession...call it what you will. It sucks...but what can you do?

It dosent make sense to bash the FO because they cant win the SB when they have shown that their formula for the past decade or so has given them the best odds to do so? It has been a incredibly frustrating 8 years. One thing after another. I like WW I wanted him here. He is gone. FO knows more than we do.

Gasper is just another media slug. He likes juicy nuggets alright, and my guess is his favorites are Felger's.

The guy carries an enema bag and a canoe paddle everywhere he goes, 'cause all he does is stir $h*t.

As someone who generally has a lot of faith in the front office, I agree. Belichick is usually right, but that doesn't (and shouldn't) make him immune to criticism. He's frequently wrong, and oddly enough, the failures are oftentimes pretty easy to see coming, to a lot of untrained eyes. You can acknowledge that he's the best and be pumped to have him while also criticizing the moves that warrant it.
"He's usually right", and "frequently wrong". Sorry BTFW, you can't be both.

I think I get your point, but had to point out the oxymoron....if only to get to use the term oxymoron. . BB has shown over the years that he IS usually right, yet we all acknowledge he is SOMETIMES wrong. But his unrivaled success at putting competitive teams on the field year after year HAS earned him our trust...or at least it should

its fair to question this move, no doubt. Its fair to speculate that it hurts the team. But its equally fair to acknowledge that the FO made this decision with a lot more data than we have. That they HAVE a plan and objective, and that their track record is more than just good.

So while the Chris Gaspar's of the world try to promote themselves with provocative articles that have little basis in fact, yet try to pass them off as the truth, BB stays as far in the background as possible plugging away at HIS job, which is trying to put his team into position to get to another superbowl.

I could care LESS about what that self aggrandizing little pissant, Chris Gaspar, has to say....and neither should anyone else.

672 receptions in 6 years (most by any player in NFL history) with 3 seasons over 1300 yards and one of the very best receivers in 1st downs and YAC.the NFL has ever seen. I guess outrage that they wouldn't give him Ochocinco money is just purely sentimental. no problem here, anyone can do that.

Where did I say players have gotten up rings since 2004? The FO wants to win. They have a formula.

Apparently that formula puts a higher value on Ochocinco than Welker. No problem there.

What?
What does this have to do with the Gasper quote I posted?

Reading between the lines of what Gasper posted, the Brady camp sees the extension he signed with very team friendly terms as merely a device that allowed the team to free up cap space in the short term. If we are to believe that the Brady camp dismisses the Kraft "iron clad" notion of the extension, then what do you think is going through Brady's mind as they low balled WW right out the door.
And how about Bob Kraft and his Jerry Jonesian recent tendency to become part of the story. First his "iron clad" demonstration of "the Patriot Way" which we are now learning is BS.....then his Welker for Life comment out of one side of his mouth while insulting him out of the other side. And it is is now reported that Kraft spoke to WW at the end trying to convince the most successful WR of the last 6 years to accept 1/6 the amount of money Harvin was given and even less money than Hartline.
Care to guess what WW was actually thinking during that conversation/

Amendola's not getting paid?

Really? If he was only worth 6 million why did they give him 9.5 for 1 year?

Welker's production earned him a contract in that range, especially when guys who couldn't carry his jock were getting much more than that and still are. And I was far from alone in calling for 8 million a year and still feel they should have done it.

And yes, allowing him to go to Denver when they could have had him back with Amendola for another million a year is ******ed, and everyone is going to agree with that if the Broncos take out the Patriots in next year's play-offs, which is a distinct possibility.

I would never expect oll of you who trashed him to get that but then again I really don't expect you guysto get much anyways.

You were wrong about his value in the league, just like his agent. That overestimation is what partially drove us to this point.

The same approach you take to his drafting, I also apply to his FA moves. Not all of them are going to be right and it is fair to point that out after the results are seen, but you have to look at the bigger picture. Only a very few wanted Welker to be gone. Most of us, I think, are just trying to take it in stride and try to trust in the system.
