Why I think Josh McDaniels is VERY good

lemme toss this up to ya slapnuts... if you dont think JM is the best pats rookie OC of ALLTIME, then who is?

When was the last time the Patriots had a rookie coordinator take over a Super Bowl caliber team??

I think McDaniels had a hand in losing both Colts games by abandoning the run and letting the Colts tee off on Brady. He also had a huge hand in the Jets loss. I think we rushed the ball 15 times that game, against a Jets team that was 31st against the run at the time.

As for the Brady rating thing...McDaniels has been working with Brady as Brady enters his prime. I think his rating would be going up no matter who was the coach because of the point Brady is at in his career.

As poorly as some, and it remains an entrenched few, think Josh performed with this seemlessly constructed crew of pro bowlers, it is fitting that this thread and the one it was apparently started to counter continues to spew nonsense as he coordinates the actual AFC Pro Bowlers, none of whom save an 11th hour injury replacement represent our NEP.

BTW the first series of the second half of the AFCC was a product of a team sitting out for over an hour following their last scoring opportunity and being totally out of rhythm and lacking execution. Our defense had a lengthy halftime to rest up and yet the Colts marched down the field to open the second half. Defense wins championships, and on the day of the AFCC our's collapsed.

Blaming the OC, who is running the very same offense that won us 3 superbowls minus about a quarter of the established and fully functional talent that existed in our last 2 successful trips down that road, for this team being unable to get closer than 3 minutes away from a 4th superbowl is the passtime of the dim witted.

He was saddled with a patchwork core of WR assembled and even re-assembled on the fly consistently absent a clear cut #1, a talented rookie RB whose inclination to dance re-surfaced as he wore down down the stretch, an MVP caliber RB who hasn't been a consistent force since his first SB season here, an Oline that struggles to multi task, an inconsistent young TE who hit a rough patch even by his standards....and the list goes on. In those games where he "gave up on the run" he did so with good reason - it wasn't working in the second half because the Colts committed to stopping it and we didn't have the level of execution in our passing game to make them pay for that. In the AFCC the only functional back we could have likley used on screens and draws to counter them was injured and on the bench for the duration. Dillon doesn't scare teams any more in space, and Maroney couldn't find his way to space if his life depended on it down the stretch.

Josh doesn't get to pick and choose his players, or shape the broad based philosophy around which both the offense and defense are shaped. If you people have a problem with anyone it is with the guy most of you, with one occasional exception, don't have the temerity to question lest he flash his handfull of rings in your direction.

Had we won again this season I guarantee you he would have once again uttered to someone on his way to the podium much the same thing he said after the 2001 season - "Can you believe we won with this team?".

FWIW-why is it that every time our teams lose, we will ALWAYS say things like...

1. Bench this guy

2. Fire this coach

3. Why were we TOO conservative?

4. Why didn't we run the ball enough?

McDaniels is fine-don't sweat it.

McDaniels sucks and deserves to be fired.

1) That is a p!ss-poor excuse for a professional football team. On 1st and 3rd down of that series, they "executed" as if they had never played with each other before.

2) Please don't patronize me, just because I don't march in lock-step with you in matters of a subjective nature.

By the way, I believe that pastime is spelled with one "s".

Un-effin-believable.

Yeah, and 'professional football teams' have done the same crap against us in the playoffs and Pats fans said it was because our D was 'that good'. Well, Indy beat us. They made plays and STOPPED us like we've stopped teams in years past. Other great teams have made stupid plays/penalties (see Chargers) that cost them a game. IT HAPPENS.

I think our 'dynasty' has spoiled some fans to the effect that they think we control our own destiny in each and every game. The Patriots are a very good team- the best on every gameday, every series, every play? No way that's possible.

So for all whining and complaining about our OC, just get over the fact that you can't get '4 Games to Glory' DVD THIS year and continue to support your VERY GOOD team through thick and thin.
