Kept checking the waiver wire to find out if we really did pick up Tony Gonsalves,as Wilcotts kept talking about him....

Harlow(sp) and Wilcotts are two of the worse announcers of all time, they made an endless game seem even more endless than it already was..

Everyone here is b***** about Chung are being naive goody2shoes. First the hit was not helmet to helmet, second you need those sorts of players.

Chung had a great game objectively and set some fear into the Jag WRs.

He caught a ball that was knocked to him by Chandler Jones and caught another that was a jump ball. He played an awful game, his angles were terrible and him and Gregory combine to makeup the worst coverage safety tandem in the NFL.

This game convinced me that there is a "great" safety on the Patriots and his name is Devin McCourty because are pass coverage was awful over the middle with him back at CB.

This defense without Aqib Talib terrifies me.

I don't really think its as much about Talib being a great CB as it about being able to use McCourty at safety. So for that reason I agree.

I'm also terrified of no Dennard because IMO he is just as important as Talib because Arrington at outside corner is the scariest thing in the NFL.

without a reasonably healthy Talib & Dennard we are in serious trouble against any team in the playoffs. Ahern is a paper tiger without Gronk and Branch is done. I would play Slater over Branch. Sorry to be so negative but imho we have gone from SB contender to in big trouble in 2 weeks. If we played tomorrow Denver would crush us. Today the coaching was pathetic!!

:singing: :blahblah:

Greg Gumbel and Dan Dierdorf say hello.

Obviously saw and predicted the potential for the Pats to fall into a TRAP game here and STRUGGLE......which they did. We have a continued WEAKNESS in the secondary play that in my honest opinion WILL KEEP THIS TEAM FROM a CHANCE at winning another SB again this season.

Oh you mean how both starting Corners didn't play (I think Talib played one series), their best Safety was playing at Corner, they had Chung out their who is good at the run but leaves much to be desired in pass coverage. Not to mention their #2 LB was out.

But the patchwork defense buckled down and after allowing 13 in the first half, only allowed 3 in the second. That's with the offense doing nothing and being forced to punt the ball 4 times out of 6 possessions in the second half.

The defense did their jobs on the first 3 drives of the 2nd half getting the ball back to Brady and the offense. Which they only capitalized on it once.

Then Hightower and Jones make back to back plays to give back to the offense at the end of the game, all they gotta do is get another first down and that game is over. But then Connolly gets beat and Brady gets sacked. Where is a screen pass to Vereen or Woodhead it seems like that works more often then not, gotta believe they might be able to pick up 7 yards there.

But that last drive by Jacksonville was aided by a stupid play by Chung

I hope Hernandez gets rid of his alligator arms. I understand last week since he just suffered a big hit, but seeing it again this week is a little discouraging.

OL needs to play better, they took a step backwards today.

Lots of tape to show to the players of what they need to do going forward.

Think it was the catch he had when he got taken out at the legs seemed to get inside his head. He said something to the Jags player on his way back to the huddle and was not the same after that.

O-line is truly the big concern. With an older QB you absolutely need a stud O-line.

Mankins and Connolly have been trash

Life isnt pretty with McCourty and Arrington as your starting Corners. Add Chung and youve got the 3 Stooges of NFL pass defenses.

For including McCourty shall we deem you an honorary stooge?

Agree....starting primary CORNER was out in Talib. Bigger difference when he is in there. I don't think that Dennard is a top shelf, MUST have CB yet do you? I think Dennard has the POTENTIAL to be a elite CB for this team and in the league. Do you think he is THERE NOW? I personally don't. Arrington (who I thought might be gone after the last game against SF) played pretty decently today. In regards to the rest of our defense being "Patchwork".......is that because Spikes was out? Who else being out would lead you to call it patchwork (not trying to be argumentative here...just curious) Hightower played BRILLIANTLY today as you say. Jones was decent as well. thanks for the good overall post JM.....

any win in the NFL is a good win....as a fan I wasn't that up for this game....just get out without any injuries, get the win ,enjoy Christmas...obviously it's going to be a horrible Christmas for all the damnable CL's and their always rainy, sky is falling world.

Correct. The last 4 games Brady has seen too much pressure. One can overlook Houston as they were blitzing almost every play, however, generally the pass protection has been sub par for 4 games. The heart of the Patriots and what everything revolves around is the Patriots ability to move the ball through the air. With the OL playing like it has been/teams dampening the heart of the Patriots, the Patriots will not be the same team fans expect to see (and making a run into the playoffs a much more unlikely scenario).

The Pats gave up 16 points to Jax and a QB that has played against the BB defense at least 6 times...the Pats were missing Spikes, who I consider to be THE beast against the run on this defense...the CL's think he saucks...BB played a different combination in the backfield and got some film on those looks...no, we must have Talib wqhere he's supposed to be and McCourty where he's supposed to be or its' all "BAD FOREVER!!!!!!!!" and Spikes is a` JAG...let's not forget that constant CL meme. No other victories mean anything when judging this team, just THIS BAD ONE and last week's loss....got it.

Say, instead of subjecting yourselves to this horrible team and all the distress it causes you, not to mention the hundreds of urine soaked panties ruined by your sheer fright every freakin' game, why not root for another team that meets your crybaby gutless needs???...like, say, Ecry and the Giants???..You CL morons lust after every play he makes and never shut up about the Giants defense...THERE'S your little blue security blanky, you sickening mopes. LEAVE...no one will miss your constant 24/7 negativity.

I largely agree Joker. However, explain the OL play? Regardless of the circumstances, the OL should be playing better.
I don't think the sky is falling but the OL play has to be concerning....

If you could predict that Talib abd Dennard wouldnt play then you should go to Vegas, its a vastly different defense when those two dont play, then we have several players out of position.
Its not a continued weakness, its only a weakness when those two guys arent at corner and McC isnt at safety. Did you miss the 5-6 games when they all played in the proper positions?

i'm not really too concerned with how the Defense looked this week IMO...clearly the pats treated this as a bye week to rest some guys with bumps/bruises.

Spikes/Dennard/Talib all probably play if its a playoff game(they played last week)..and Gronk probably plays as well.

as much as the Pats always say "they are a good team" Bill knows they are a team with 2 wins. and knows they probably can beat them missing some key guys

Talib, Dennard, and Spikes need to be healthy for the playoffs.

A win is a win and it's great to see Lloyd have another solid outing. Also 2 big stops by the defense down the stretch is another very encouraging sign.

Two back to back prime time football games against two back to back Superbowl contenders.

This was a hang over game.

I think some of the credit goes to the Jags secondary. Brady was forced to hold the ball on several occaissions.
