The 2013 Prospect Thread

John Simon. Because I think he'll fall. He's already got that character drive so think of his fall being a top up to an already driven character.

Jarvis Jones. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he falls to the bottom of the first or even into the 2nd round (Spinal Stenosis).

Very good suggestions. Simon got the "too short, too slow, great intangibles but doesn't really have a position" label. That may all be true ... or he may be may be one of those guys with too much drive and determination not to succeed, and under-the-radar athleticism, like Welker. Jones had top 5 hype. If he slips, it could really drive him.

McShay has Pats taking Tavon Austin in his mock 1.0 published 12DEC2012. 30th overall, based on current records.

Ansah goes #24 to the Colts.

im obsessed with shawn williams. i do not get how this guy is not rated higher. we will never know what bill plans to do but if he does get a safety, i hope its this guy. ive seen some mocks that have us getting xavier rhodes. personally i dont think hes very good. plus i dont like acc players reguardless.

Giovanni Bernard to declare, per CBS Sports:

UNC RB Giovani Bernard leaves school for NFL Draft - CBSSports.com

Will probably be the first RB off the board.

- RB Knile Davis, Arkansas
- RB Travis Ward, Tennessee St.
- RB Giovanni Bernard, North Carolina
- WR Keenan Allen, Cal
- WR Da'Rick Rogers, Tennessee Tech
- WR Justin Hunter, Tennessee (per Tony Pauline, but haven't seen this confirmed)
- DT Johnathan Hankins, Ohio St.
- DT Sheldon Richardson, Missouri
- DB David Amerson, North Carolina St.
- DB Tyrann Mathieu, LSU

I've seen him tackle well, but in the SEC CG he missed some tackles on the alabama RB...sometimes he'd come up and stop his momentum and then lunge. They need to teach tackling at some of these schools...even in the pros I've seen bad tackling.

Search Tavon's Night vs Oklahoma on youtube (i have too few posts to post it)...I was looking at the ESPN Mock Draft and wanted to watch more of Tavon Austin...WOW! Watch how fast he blows by Tony Jefferson of OU at 1:12!

Personally, I find Williams (and his counterpart, Rambo) both to be very average prospects. Rambo is soft, contact-shy, takes bizarre angles, and is undisciplined in coverage. Williams is a better football player, but doesn't have the range and fluidity to cover well in the NFL. He also is an inconsistent tackler, which is a no-no for a strong safety. Not sure he offers anything that Tavon Wilson doesn't.

A sleeper and potential beast.

Armonty Bryant, DE

6'4, 255lbs

East Central University, Snr

Love his length. Plays at DII level so hard to gauge his talent owing to the level of opposing OL (not good) but he's got very good length, very nice COD and good athleticism. Would be interested to hear what people think.

Stand out play for me was the one at 5:44. Tracks a receiver into the endzone and defends the pass with his long arms.

Markell Carter pick?

Last small school guy for the day. You will LOVE this one though.

Garrett Gilkey, LT, Chadron St.

6-7, 320 lbs.

So I started watching this video and on the first play he knocked the defender over. I thought to myself "love it when a lineman does that". He then did it on the second play, fourth play, fifth, sixth. You get the picture. Tell me this guy doesn't bring a smile to your face watching him beat opposing defenders.

And watch out for the play at 2:59. Block Forrest, Block!!

I'm sorry Manx, but the idea that a guy from Chadron St. could possibly make it on the Pats is just ludicrous.

Great find. Almost as good as Ziggy porn.

ahah that guy is amazing. He just picks someone and runs him over. Awesome find manx.

One other problem. He's gonna need a new number

It's like watching an 18 year old in a pee-wee game.

Probably a good move for him. He has lot of talent, just needs to develop and get more consistent.

I'm liking this guy, great find.

I don't know if he has the dancing feet to be a tackle for Scar. But if 6'7" Robert Gallery good be a good LG, this kid has a shot. He's a mauler.

Yup. Don't see him leading Welker on a screen like Vollmer and Solder do. He's fun to watch though.

No, but I love watching him pancake people. Sort of like Mike Iupati. Would be nice opening some holes for Ridley. His tackle background is a plus if he look at him as a guard convert, and it looks like he gets out of his stance very quickly with a lot of explosion. Definitely another great find, and a kid to keep a close eye on.
