So after Brady wins 2 AFC player of the week awards in a month (Sept 30th & Oct 28th) The NFL gives Manning the AFC player of the month award for October. Yet he only played in three games one of them he lost to the Patriots the other two were against San Diego and New Orleans. Philip Rivers basically gifted wrap that game to the Broncos after being up 24-0 at half time and throwing 3 picks in the 4th quarter. And who have the Saints beat this season? San Diego and Tampa Bay. They couldn't even beat the Chiefs at home.

Broncos beat 3 under-.500 teams and the media starts jumping on that Peyton Manning-Denver Broncos Superbowl bandwagon.

This morning on the HERD mark schlereth was asked who he thinks is the NFL MVP so far, and his answer the obvious Peyton Manning and the reason for him picking Manning? It had nothing to do with the actual game rather Schlereth had this to say

He came back from a tough injury.....
so give him comeback player
Last year the Broncos had bad Oline and WRs
............ Really? didnt they upgrade at those positions
He may end up going 7-1 the rest of the season..... So? 7 of the next 8 teams Manning plays are sub 500 teams........... Yo u cant crown MVP based on what is going to happen 2-3 months down the line, You crown the MVP based on what someone has done and Manning and Broncos have lost 3 games out of 7. If people were giving awards based on what teams could do in the future then the JETS would have been SB champions 4 years running .

This guy needs to listen to a recording of todays show and see how ridiculous his arguments were....... There was one caller who called in immediately and said what about Brady and schlereth was like "Hmmm...oh....hmm...he is gr8 too"

If these guys love the Manning brothers so much maybe they should get the eligible females in their household inseminated with the MANNING SPERM and have future generations of Mannings

As of now I'll give the MVP to Matt Ryan. Brady,Peyton Rodgers & Peterson are also in the mix. I could care less to who wins the MVP award. I hope it's one of the other guys who wins it instead of Brady. I don't want that curse hanging over our team in the playoffs.

The difference between Manning and Brady, is Manning wins a few games, plays well and everyone talks about it..

Brady wins 45-7 and its not even mentioned because thats just what that dude does. He's that good.

Just heard Breer on 98.5 salivating over the possibility that Denver trades for D. Hall. Breer is clearly on the Denver/Manning bandwagon the size of which must be approaching the Titanic. Only hope it meets with a similar fate.

Actually Schlereth did mention this point after the caller had asked him abt Brady.......

It wasn't hall, it was Deangelo Williams. Also, he was making a good point about a player of that caliber possibly being a game changer in terms of how opponents would have to defend, and he didn't just mention Denver. He also pointed to Green Bay.

These receivers aren't JAGs either, they're young physical thoroughbreds.

Thomas 6'3", 225lbs, 4.36 40 time, (22)1st round draft pic, 25 years old
Decker 6'3", 210lbs, 4.45 40 time, (87)3rd round pic, 25 years old

The QB ball washing in the nfl is pretty disgusting all the way around. Last year it was Tebow that energized Denvers defense and inspired 60yrd field goals, lol. Brady gets it as well but Peyton Manning hands down gets it the most for sure.

I would be happy for Zipperneck if he won the MVP, so long as he comes to New England in the playoffs in the snow and the cold and repeats his Colts performance in the 2005 AFC Championship Game.

Denver lost the tiebreaker for home field in October to Mr. Tom Brady, so he's already on his way.

Denver does have an easy schedule ahead when compared to the Pats , They may end up winning more games than anyone in the AFC......

I think people are getting out over their skis re: Manning and the Broncos. The Broncos have played 3 road games and have faced the following deficits:
27-7
31-7
24-0

82-14 folks. They play 5 of their next 7 games on the road. While the competition isn't stellar (CIN, CAR, KC, OAK, BAL), the Broncos haven't shown the ability to do well on the road except when the opposing defense throttles down with a big lead. In addition, Manning has yet to play in a "weather" game...and that will be changing soon.

Mayhaps we should wait until the Flying Goobers play a couple of roadies without falling behind by 3 scores. Or see if Manning can throw the ball in wind and cold...or even through air friction. With the rest of their division pooping themselves on a weekly basis, their road to the playoffs seems pretty clear. But if they can't pass last years level (one playoff win), then I'm not sure if you can consider the Manning experiment much of a success.

But you're supposed to be out over your skis now. Its been a long time since " bend zi knees".

Think how happy those WR in Denver must feel going from Tebow to Manning night and day. They are a nice young Offense and Manning can only make them better i am happy for him and them. That said i want Brady to be hoisting one throphy at the end of the year and we all know what that one is.

I heard Brady say the same thing, that those awards don't mean a thing to him. It's all about the Ws.

There is something that everyone who cares about that award should keep in mind going forward. Below is the breakdown for TDs for each of the teams with a QB in the MVP race;
TDs Run Pass
NE 12 16
GB 2 22
Denver 5 17
Houston 11 10
Giants 10 12
Atlanta 4 17
SF 8 12

One of the things that might hurt Brady, Schaub and Eli Manning is the fact that they're more apt to hand the ball off for the TDs than the others. That won't help their chances at being MVP, but it will be the key to winning the LomBrady trophy.

I'm limited in what NFL media I can access but from what I do see it would appear that Brady (and the Pats) doesnt get the love from a lot of media.

One show we do get is Mike and Mike (yes, I watch radio, sad isn't it) and it would fair to say that Mike Greenberg would rather call his mum something nasty than give Brady any praise.

Yesterday he was going through his QB's and would only grudgingly include Brady in the top 6!!!!

Is it because Greenberg is a Jets fan?

Wasn't Caldwell the coach in that Superbowl?

Yeah - Caldwell against Sean Payton. That seems fair.

Manning actually had a pretty great game outside of the INT. If Hank Baskett stays in position for an onside kick, that game was probably a Colts blowout.

Abraham Lincoln would have enjoyed the movie too, if it wasn't for the bullet that was lodged in his head.

The INT thrown by P6 was the key to the Saints' easy come from ahead victory.

Movie? LOL is that you Joe Biden?

oh look more Manning MVP ball washing on NFL Network.

Yet no mention of how he has lost to the only 3 teams that are more than likely playoff bound on their schedule so far.

Yes. Greenberg admittedly despises the Patriots and Brady. I also watched that episode involved with ranking the QBs. When asked if he thought Brady or Rothlisberger was better than the other, he said he'd have to think about it. No offense to Rothlisberger, but it was at that point that I realized that watching the show and hoping for any sort of informative experience was a fool's errand. And God knows, I've been on enough of those already in my life.

Kurt Warner on NFLN made again his case why peyton is frontrunner for MVP because "he makes others around him better"
People jump over each other in the media to hand peyton an award like its their duty...sometimes I wonder who root for peyton more -archie or chris mortensen for e.g.

Hah -- yeah, like I said, get ready for the "he's leading the Broncos to the playoffs" stuff. You know, the same Broncos that made it to the playoffs last year with Tim "I Can't Take Any Snaps Away Mark Mark Sanchez" Tebow at QB. Denver was improving rapidly before Manning came along.

All due respect to Manning because he's a great player having a great season, and he might well earn the MVP. It's just that the fawning is a bit overdone.
