C's vs Heat

We must have watched different games then because I saw fouls damn near every time the Celtics took the ball inside.

I'd have to seriously look back at this game in order to determine whether your point is cogent or not. As of right now, I'm resting on my admittedly biased recollection of their inside drives.

I think you're right that most of the officiating was fair. Fouls / free throws don't tell the whole story because of differences in styles of play. When the foul count at the start was 6-0 or something, w/a few on Stiemsma, that was about right, though lopsided.

That said, I think some of the no-calls / questionable calls were late in the game, were critical and went Miami's way. I don't think Pierce's 6th was a foul on him. That call, obviously, was huge since it put him out of the game. The call on Garnett when Wade also kicked him -- that can go either way, but I think the offensive player's leg out usually is a red flag these days for refs. Hitting Rondo on the head on his drive.

Absolutely. I've admitted it before and I'll admit it again: the calls favor Miami this series. I knew that going in and you guys knew that going in. However...

1. You can't honestly fully blame the officiating for these two losses when the Celtics made enough mistakes on their own to lose both games.

2. You can always play through the officiating in the postseason. See Spurs, San Antonio.

Just to be clear, I'm not blaming the officiating, just giving my take on the quality of the officiating and how I viewed its impact on the games.

I don't think it made a real difference in game 1. Somebody made a point earlier that is valid, imo, that refs' calls can help halt momentum, but in the end I come back to your point #2 for that game, especially when those calls were earlier in the game.

Your point #2 is valid, but less so the later in the game you get. Clearly the Celts could have won, but each of those bad late calls makes it that much harder to do do so.

(I generally think the NBA and its officiating blow. From what I see there is no consistency and no real regard for the actual rules. The illegal screen called on garnett on that late possession against the sixers was a perfect example. Was it an illegal screen? Absolutely -- no way you can argue it was legal. But was the same play called a foul earlier in that game and in other games during the series? sometimes yes, sometimes no. Total crap shoot.)

Bad officiating or playing. Whatever the case, the Cs need to rebound as they are down 2-0 as the Heat look to make it 3-0.

They won't rebound...we have until Sunday until this group is gone forever

And, again, if the C's don't allow the Heat to go on a 12-0 run in the third then the non-call isn't an issue.

But it was an issue...that was the problem

C's still would have lost game 1 even without all those BS calls. Refs didn't cost them game 1..but game 2 they very well could have

Anyone listen to Donny Marshall today? Saying that if the NBA isn't paving the way for Miami to the finals..then he doesn't know what is going on with these calls as he pointed out the T's on teams playing against miami

At least the Spurs will be winning it all this year. I can't stand all these bandwagon heat fans up here

The problem is that your argument is soley based on a "who knows?" perspective. With that in mind, what's to stop me from saying that the Heat still would have won the other night, only by three points instead of the margin they did win by? Rondo hits two foul shots and the result is the same at the other end because, by then, the Heat were getting into the lane almost at will. And really? Heat fans up in Boston?

And really? Heat fans up in Boston?

I have 4 people i know from college all of a sudden big into the heat...and lots more on facebook posting about them..i need new friends

Let's see how much the officiating will change once they are in boston

C's will get smoked in this one as well

Stiemsma. Someone remind me why we plucked him from the D-League?

Can this series be over tonight..to save the embarrassment on sunday?

Serious D the C's played in the second quarter. On top of that, they're taking advantage of the soft interior D and pounding it inside. I'm impressed.

LeBron is the only Heat player who has shown up thus far Kontra. Still, neither side is playing particularly bright basketball.

No energy whatsoever from the Heat tonight. Almost like they accepted the fact that this was a give away game prior to tip off. Looks like a bad loss in the making.

And nice seven push ups from Garnett. It's ironic in that seven is also the amount of inches that he deep throats.

C's actually might win a game? I have seen it all

And if it wasn't for Lebron, the C's would be up by 30+ right now....The C's are getting the benefit of the calls tonight but you knew this series would go more than 4 games due to the $ factor....

if they stick to this game plan..then could actually win 2 in a row

LeBron is playing an epic game. The 50/50 calls are definitely going the C's way tonight. Truthfully, it's a blight on the NBA.

It's funny..the refs probably said before the game..we screwed them out of game 2..lets have some make up calls..gotta love the way the NBA thinks
