Brandon Jacobs signs with SF for one year.

I have not been a fan of Jacobs lately and Moss I believe is finished but both could be great additions on these one year 'prove it' deals. Especially Jacobs I remember him running like a beast back in '06 and I personally think he's sucked ever since getting the big contract. SF has a backfield of Gore-Jacobs-Hunter that could be a lethal trio. Not sure if Manningham and Moss are the answer at WR for them but if they have a solid impact, that team is scary.

Jacobs to the Niners is huge for them. A terrific 1-2 punch in the backfield to take even more pressure off Smith. The Niners should have been in the Super Bowl as it is.
Doesn't Jacobs kind of stink? The kid they had behind Gore last year probably is #2 and Jacobs is cut in camp. I would add along with _________ but we don't need to go down that road again.

Every 9ers fan I've seen hates the move, they all think Kendall Hunter is a good player and it will just stunt his growth.

Eh. Jacobs isn't that great. He's a decent backup, but I don't really see what the fuss is about.

The 49ers' backup from last season (Kendall Hunter) is better than Jacobs.

Hunter will be #2 when the season starts. Jacobs doesn't look like he has anything left, unless that was just the effect of the Giants not so great OL.

Hunter will still get his touches, Jacobs is just going to take over Anthony Dixons spot. Dixon who was brought in to replace Glenn Coffee who suddenly retired, has been a dissapointment. Hunter can't take 20 touches a game, so if Gore goes down, Jacobs steps in and splits carries with Hunter. Good move by the niners.

Jacobs runs high and doesn't hit or find the hole fast enough. I've seen enough of him. He might not even make the 49ers team.

Coffee left the 49ers before the start of the 2010 season..

Dixon was drafted in the 4th round by the 49ers after they had added Coffee in the 3rd round. Dixon was more of a bruiser..

But, I agree that Dixon has been a disappointment in the running game and the passing game.

I also agree that Jacobs looks to be a good signing for the 49ers

Patsfans potential RFA CB target Ladarius Webb just signed a 6 year $50M deal to remain in Baltimore. $10M signing bonus and $18M in the first two seasons. This is why teams don't often persue RFA. Would have taken a first and a better contract to land the player. Tough enough to keep that player when you develop him yourself and you've already benefitted and know he fits your system because he's already proven it.

That's a lot of $$....

Would you pay that for Allen?

Jonathan Wilhite to the Bears, per Aaron Wilson.

Bad news for us, on both fronts. Castillo & Sanders, each at approx. $1M for 1 year,
could have helped us at positions where we are still bereft of talent & depth.

I can't believe (actually I can, unfortunately) that Bill has signed only backup-talent
Steve Gregory to help our putrid Safety position.

Sanders must have run over BB's dog or pinched Linda's ass.
