In my opinion, the only way the Pats don't draft a center is if they feel that McDonald has made enough strides to push for the starting position. I have found it interesting that McDonald was not cut and re-signed to the practice squad despite the return of both Wendell and Connolly.

I think Koppen is a possibility to be re-signed, and if so, they may not look to the draft yet. I'd love an upgrade to him, but if the draft board doesn't merit a center at whatever pick they are at, they will pass. Their center by committee approach seems to be doing ok.

Agree on McDonald. They must like what they've seen.

There's no way he would make it back to the practice squad, some team would claim him in a heartbeat. I usually don't pay a lot of attention to interior OL (unless they's getting 12 killed) but I have not noticed any drop off from any of those 3. I think we're ok at Centre if they can retain all three.

With Vollmer, Mankins, Cannon, and Solder, the Pats have the workings of their O-line for the next 5 years.. And it should be a very good one.. If they add Ben Jones or Peter Konz to that, OMG..

That's how I see it as well. Like pretty much everyone else i want them focused on defense in free agency and the draft but if Konz is there late in the first they should take him, if so I think they will have the best OL in the league for years to come, and it will be next to impossible to get pressure on Brady up the middle with their OG's and a great young center.

As for Vollmer, he is better than Solder right now but not for long, Solder is going to become an all pro LT for years to come imo.

I'll take Solder over Vollmer....considering he didn't have any offseason at all, he was phenominal this year.....10-15lbs of muscle and a year under his belt, he will be the best OL the pats have.

right now, he is at least even with vollmer........4 years younger, too
