AFC East Championships since 1960

New England Patriots- 14
Miami Dolphins- 13
Buffalo Bills- 10
Baltimore/Indianapolis Colts- 6
Houston Oilers- 4
***New York Jets- 4

***Just a clarification for those newbies who are just learning about the NFL and aren't sure how a team that has occupied a division for 52 years has only four division titles, particularly a team that also occupies the largest metropolitan area in the United States.

How could this team have a many division titles as the Houston Oilers, who left the division over 40 years ago, you ask?

Your questioning is perfectly valid, and the above chart is not a typo. To understand this statistical impossibility, you should begin your quest for answers by visiting the cesspool of lowlife fans of "said team" at ganggreen.com . After evaluating some of the planet's lower forms of intelligence at this forum, you will begin to understand better why this team is horribly, horribly bad year in and year out, despite the obnoxious media hype 365 days a year.

Footnote is full of awesomeness

Well done

Hell, I didn't even know that the Oilers were ever in the AFC East!!!. That they have the same amount of titles as the Jets is the best stat ever.

:D:D:D:D WELL DONE !! :rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker::rocker:

For full disclosure, the Dolphins didn't come into existence until 1966 while the other teams were part of the original 8 AFL teams....except for the Colts who came over to the AFL with the Browns and Steelers in the merger.

Same here!

Ah, to savor the historic ineptitude of the Jets, to which I'd heretofore been oblivious! :D No wonder they have an inferiority complex :D

IIRC original AFL was
East
Houston Oilers
Boston Patriots
New York Titans
Buffalo Bills

West
Denver Broncos
Oakland Raiders
Los Angeles Chargers
Kansas City Chiefs (Dallas Texans for a year before moving to KC)

All off memory so if I'm wrong no flames please.....

New York Jets - forever in the shadow of the New England Patriots.

I hope someone here who has access to gangrene.com will post this info over there. Not as a Patriots-favoring post, but just as a news update.

I'd put the over/under on getting banned there afterwards at about 20 seconds.....

No flames for being wrong on a few facts, if you are. Flames are reserved for far more obnoxious offenses. :enranged::nono:

Best.Footnote. Ever.

I hope you don't mind my editing the title to mention the Jets - - hopefully their trolls see it better.

Re: Pats move ahead of 'Phins for most AFC East Titles (w/ a Fascinating Jets Footnot

While these stats are true they are not exactly fair. In all fairness you should include the number of pre-season "hype" Super Bowls the jets have also won.:D

Awesome. I hope Shula is reading this somewhere mumbling angrily about the snowplow.

and as always LOL @ the Jets.

To be fair to the Jets, we shouldn't count any pre-merger titles. So Houston would not be included.

But then again neither would SB III that the Jets claim to be a "title", count. Fair is fair and I like that way of being fair to the Jets better.:D

Complete with a trip by Sanchez to the White House in May, the Jets best month!

I bought a haz mat suit for that very purpose. Saves on soap and water bills.

One basic fact is that the Green Beans have NEVER won an NFL title. Super Bowl III essentially was an exhibition game between two distinct and separate leagues.

What a wonderful post to start my morning with. :rocker:

We also don't have to worry about drunken ex-QB's trying to kiss sideline reporters on live TV.
