does he come out of his stance?...No?...what false start then

I was under the impression the OL had to be at a complete standstill, but I guess its just if they move their foot or take their hand off the ground

you can ...uh...self gratify yourself as long as you're in your stance with your other hand on the ground...krist, I've seen Jeff Saturday gesticulating wildly for ten seconds before the snap with Manning going beserk behind him...but communication along the line with hand signals is done by all teams on the road

Except for Carter injury, a great week

Pats win. Houston loses. Jests lose. Ratbirds lose. Packers lose.

Gotta love it!

Now if the Niners can just knock off the Squealers tomorrow night, it'll truly be a great week.

Re: Except for Carter injury, a great week

That's a big friggin 'except' IMO. Pats really have **** luck when it comes to injuries it seems. Makes what they've done the last decade that much more impressive. Meanwhile the Jets lose Jim Leonhard and the team falls apart.

That team was a disaster when Mangold was out and the commentators felt the need to point it out 50 times a game. Meanwhile Pats have had 4 guys play center this season and I haven't heard a peep.

you won't either...it's all about Sexy Rexy!!! and Chosen One!!! to the rat eating media...another AFC East title and not one mention on the NFL network show by Deion or Irvin...just more "Patriots D sukkks!!!!"...their problem is, if they look at this decade plus of excellence by the Patriots, they deflate their over the top hero building and bloated media darling construction they all seem so intent on engaging in...to the exclusion of any REAL football analysis.

I feel the opposite; that Patriots had the refs on their side most of the game until it outcome was no longer in doubt and then the refs called a few on the Patriots to make it seem even. You could see that John Fox felt the same. The dubious calls cheapened the victory for me; I hate it when the gambling interests influence the game.

Fred - Of course you feel that way. You are absolutely clueless about the game of football.

What "dubious" calls? You mean the few correct ones that the officials made? Such as Von Miller jumping off-sides and the illegal hands to Matt Light's face?

As for your stupidity about "gambling interests influencing the game" that would have been the case had the game actually been close.. Which it wasn't after the 2nd quarter.

It does not matter where most of the money was; it only matters where the money is for the people fixing the game. Game manipulation is usually done with holding calls. Since holding happens on every play a few strategic calls can change the course of the game.

It sucked because the Patriots would have won without the dubious calls.

And no; I hate the Jets.

Disciplined Football Team. Ever hear the term? Most of the better teams in the league have it and they win because along with more talent they don't make it so obvious when they do it. These refs are paid to sort these things out during the game and are also evaluated on how they did after the game.

Well said. Thank you.

Aaron Hernandez of course had a career game but what I was most impressed with was how he got position for the ball today. Some of those throws weren't perfect by any means and he still got them. And then yac was created by his somewhat awkward angles he was able to create on his own. Very impressive day for AH today and enough can't be said of Gronk staying back to block, while taking on double and triple teams when he did venture out into the passing lanes.

what's up with bjge? He must be injured, doesn't seem to have the same burst as he did in the beginning of the season. Ridley looked good. His name should be "the talented mr. Ridley".

I'm glad they changed up the defense after 1st quarter. That's what good teams can do. Put enough guys on the line that they can't keep gashing us with the run. It's not like we need 2 deep safeties with this guy.

Don't know why Brady tried 3 sneaks on the goalline. That was kind of weird. Playaction would have pulled them all in and an easy td to a te.

didn't see how the center did today.

Those are my expert observations.
BJGE has looked AWFUL on that offtackle play that resembles the stretch.
He almost comes to a complete stop before cutting upfield. It was worse that ever today, and he was pulled for Ridley. After Ridley ran it right BJGE came back in and looked much better. Lets hope he takes the instruction, because you simply can't have a RB run like that and gain any yards.

Had a feeling this was the game Hernandez went off, as I expected Champ to shadow Wes and the Broncos to give Gronk the Antonio Gates treatment.

Had a feeling that the Patriots would win, 41-23.

Yeah, I called it.

On a lighter note: Aaron The Navigator is BACK.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Given that man a full off season and 17 healthy weeks, and he will EXPLODE in 2012!! :rocker:

Aaron never went anywhere. Brady has just been throwing to whoever was MORE open recently, Aaron was simply the victim of Gronk and Welker being unstoppable. Bronco's did an awesome job on those 2, and Aaron got his.

- As ugly as the 1st quarter looked to us, the fact that the team never lost focus on the road in a very hostile environment was incredibly impressive. A better test for a playoff road game can't be found. This team has done that all season long, and it should not be taken for granted.

- As much as we wanted to poo-poo the defense's effort against Grossman last week (again, on the road), the Giants certainly didn't fare much better at home.

- I hate to admit it, but I'm very happy the Packers lost. I really don't want another team to hit 16-0. I don't know if there will be a better regular season weekend for the Patriots (Packers finally lose a game, Jets lose, Pats win). Hopefully it's not the best moment of the season.

I think there is way too much focus on what would happen in the playoffs against our D if our O was shut down, and not enough on the reality that there may just be no one who can shut our O down.
Agree on the Pack.

Agree on the Pack.

I agree, the O can be slowed, but hasn't been stopped this year.

The Packers offense was straight up stopped today, and their D was victimized by a Chiefs team that looks like they are playing entirely 3rd stringers a lot of the time.

I've been saying it for awhile, I think the Saints are a much "scarier" team than the Pack.

The only thing that worries me is that we'll run into one of the teams that can slow our O and do some hurtin' to our D before the O gets in rythym and can't recover. Pitt comes to mind, the rest of the AFC doesn't really worry me.

The Jets and Raven have pretty good D's (usually) but they can almost be relied upon to cough the ball up. Chargers? Probably won't get in. Bronco's? Well, we saw that today. Raiders? They don't need to give up the ball when they give you a full drive or 2 in penalties per game. Houston? They might win a game against Denver or New York, they won't beat an offensive team. Chiefs? 34-3.

I'll take our chances in a shootout with any NFC team if we make it into the SB.

But all season long, the D has kept the team in the game whenever the O stagnated a bit.
Thats the thing, while the D stats would look pathetic with a lead of more than 10 points, and even worse up 14 or 17, I bet that from +7 to -7 our defense is statistically not only above average, but probably good. If any one can find those stats, I'd love to see them.

Sloppiness had a lot to do with the Pitt loss, we have to play a pretty clean game these days to win against the good teams.

They didn't dismantle anything. That first quarter was the real patriots and broncos. You don't lose your best pass rusher and BECOME better on defense.

The fact dawkins and willus didn't play shows a lot about that team. A healthy bronco team would have smashed the pats.

Please.

A healthy Vollmer, Spikes, Chung and Branch and Beelzebub Brady would have hung 66 points up on The Chosen One today.

And given up like 100 fewer rushing yards.
