You Americans are funny. Funny I tells ya. Funny.

What bothers me more is the adulation he's getting for his accomplishments on the field, which is not commensurate with what he's actually achieved.

Exactly. By this time next year I don't believe he will be the starting QB.

He's been rolling sevens now for two months. This will end.

I don't have a problem with him. He's not over the top is he? Do we want him bleeped out like he was throwing F bombs? Tolerance should be universal....not just for Michael Vick.

Tebow I don't have that much of a problem with, it's his ever growing cast of worshipers that bother me. So eager to cling onto something......anything.

As Americans, we most certainly have the right of free speech, which includes the right to attempt to persuade others.

So the National Do Not Call Registry and all "No Solicitation" signs are unconstitutional?

They proscribed the establishment of a state religion. That's not the same as saying, religion should "remain STRICTLY a private matter between an INDIVIDUAL and their beliefs."

No, it's not. But that has nothing to do with anything I've said as far as the Founders' views on the utility of a religious citizenry.

Yes they did because everyone was of the Christian faith, but at that time there was a lot of resentment and hatred toward many of the different disciplines and relatively speaking, they weren't that far removed from the dark ages and the rule of the holy organized crime syndicate found in Rome. The point of my 1776 comment is a quick reminder that times have changed and the importance of separation between church and state is more critical now than ever. I have no problem with the attention that Tebow is getting right now. His message is a lot more positive than the ones that a lot professional athletes are giving these days. Like all of 'em, the Tebow train will end and when it does we'll see how much attention he gets then.

Fryar - the last thing we need in our society is spirituality, selflessness, service, virtue, righteousness. Should I continue?

Have a Merry Christmas!

Is that why the founders added a small thing that defined a separation of church and state. This isn't 1776 either.

Separation of church and state. Those words are not found in the Constitution. Did you know that?

No, the fact is he puts it on himself by grandstanding his religion. I can't wait for one of the Muslim players to start praising Allah in his press conferences.
No, he's not "grandstanding" his Faith. He's living it out as he's supposed to. If a Muslim player wants to, he's free to as well. If you don't choose to live this way then don't. Nothing is being "imposed" on you any more than anything I see in the world is "imposed" on me. We live in a society. There are different people who believe different things than you do. Deal with it. And judge a football player by the results on the field. Right now its 7-1.

Why are you making this personal toward moi? I made an observation, I didn't claim things were being "imposed" and it has nothing to do with how I live, what I believe, or what I do or do not "deal" with.

Tebow most certainly is grandstanding his faith by starting EVERY interview with totally unrelated religious praise for his lord and savior. Did I say he can't? Certainly not! Do I think he shouldn't? YES!

I can't say I've ever heard of an Australian stand-up comic. Do they exist?

Jim Jeffries. He is gigantic in the UK, is pretty popular in Oz from what I understand, and has a bit of traction over here.

...and, ironically enough, a militant atheist.

Where did I mention people have the right to come on your private property or use your telephone w/out your permission?

Again, I'm not disagreeing with the above sentiments. Just with the notion that the founders insisted that religion "remain STRICTLY a private matter between and INDIVIDUAL and their beliefs."

this is not a political forum

Not at all.

And I respect that fact.

My apologies for any offense.

Many of the founding fathers were not very fond of religion. Thomas Jefferson wrote his own version of the New testament minus any supernatural aspects. Not exactly walking on faith.

Benjamin Franklin once said(I'm paraphrasing) "the world would be a better place without religion"

Here's one : "I have found Christian dogma unintelligible. Early in life I absented myself from Christian assemblies." - Benjamin Franklin

Um, no they didn't. They viewed relzzzzzzZZZzzzzz blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah
