.....another "See ya Wednesday, fellas" from the HC of the NEP:

Per Mike Reiss Tweet:

Victory Monday for Patriots players, as coach Bill Belichick has given them tomorrow off after hard-earned win over Eagles.

Also known as "LOL Colts Monday."

I assume they normally have Tuesdays off every week then, and just report on Mondays to break down the previous game's film?

I'm actually surprised Belichick didn't give them the week off and tell them just to be in the locker room by 12:30 on Sunday. All they need is a half an hour to prepare for th Colts.

Any ideas on why it's not the other way around? Don't mean to ask pointless questions, just curious. You'd think that maybe Mondays would normally be the day off, and that Tuesdays would be a film review.

I am assuming that the game planning for next opponent is briefed, and that maybe the players are sent home on Mondays with film/and or specific weekly plans that are relevant to the upcoming game?

My guess would be that the previous game is fresher in their minds the next day and best to get that in the rear view mirror as quickly as possible after teaching corrections, etc. Like an exit interview. Also, better to get any banged up players right back into the facility the next day for examinations/analysis without it being put off later into the week.

Then players relax Tuesday while the coaches finalize the next gameplan (*Brady does meet one on one with BB on Tuesdays) and hit the ground running on Wednesday with the previous game fully put behind and the next opponent the one and only focus.

My guess is monday is mainly a recovery day, giving players a chance to get treatment so they can pull up after the game as best as possible. They pull up a lot better getting treatment from the trainers, rather than just resting. It also gives the team a chance to check out injuries to help formulate the gameplan for the next game.

Thanks. Much appreciated. I somehow looked right past the injury aspect, which is likely the most important reason, as shmessy pointed out.

beware of the trap game.......a loss to the crappy colts would be devestating. This board would implode. :scared:

The football world, as we know it would implode!

There is no way we lose to the colts. Not even if we try to lose, they will outperform us in that respect. On their way for a score, someone will try to lateral with one defender around him.

They have had a pretty tough stretch in terms of time with the team, they played last Minday Nite.. and then had to practice on T-Day...

BB knows when to give these guys an extra day off.. as much as Indy does not concern me, any team in the NFL concerns me.

"HOW DO WE FEEL ABOUT A PATRIOTS VIC-TOR-EEE??

AWWWW YEAHHHHH!!!!"

:rocker:

Mondays are watching game film days, so being as the Pats most likely won't see the Igglies again fro another 4 years, nor will they see Vince Young again (evah), and most of the guys playing in the defensive backfield will be back on the pratice squad (or returning kicks) next week, seems reasonable to cut the film session out.

You have to hannd it to Edelman, the kids put two licks on Young! and a nice open field tackle at the goaline.

Evaluate injuries. Establish rehab and work out regimen for the week. Discuss game plan with key players so the coaches can put it in on Tuesday. Bring em back to earth after a big win and out of the dumps after a bad loss. Instill a basic discipline that you don't take off for a day at your favorite golf course after a game.

Don't think Coach Belichick is gonna allow his team to get trapped for the remainder of this season. He will provide motivations, real or imagined - he's been good at that throughout his tenure.

OK this is hyperbole but after seeing our defense this fall I'm almost convinced that BB could coach up half a dozen of us from Patsfans and still win that game. NFW we lose to the Cots.

On any given Sunday . . .

I don't think there is a team in the NFL a team can let up on - even the Colts.

Is any motivation aside from "you guys have to pretty much win out if you want the number one seed" really necessary?
