Chad Johnson Time

Been silent over my beloved Patriots so far this season but now i am going to make a bold prediction and say that this game v Jets will be number 85 's best game and hopefully be the main factor in the win. I like to call him by his original name because thats how it should be. Plus its sounds better than Ochowhatever ! Now i am not predicting him going over 100 yards or 15 catches, but enough to change the Jets plan because of his production, 6-8 catches hopefully. God i love this Team even more now, because i can see the fire in their eyes for this game. Going to be close but i am keeping the Faith. Go Chad, GO PATS. Abdul

As much as I want ocho to have a great game the one team I dont see that happening against is the Jets with Revis and Cromartie

This is the wrong game if you are hoping for chad to have a break-out performance. I don't see him getting open against either revis or cromatie even in his prime

Ocho is WR3, why would either of those guys be covering him.

but now i am going to make a bold prediction and say that this game v Jets will be number 85 's best game

Congratulations, before the 1st quarter has even ended, your prediction is correct.

Makes me wonder why he wasn't targetted much after that I gotta think it was cause Gronk had such a huge mismatch

Also, the Patriots were in a lot of no huddle. Recent years, their no huddle package skill players were Woodhead, Welker, Branch, Hernandez, and Gronkowski. Going to be hard for Ochocinco to displace one of those guys. Especially, considering the trust-factor.

2 catches for 65yards...2nd on the team in yards this game. welcome to the team finally Ocho

It looked as if Ocho did something to get him sent to the penalty box, but I didn't see what he must have done.

Brady had an animated post big catch talk with 85 on the sideline but it looked friendly & informative not critical.

85 is behind Branch on the depth chart and the Pats were no huddle = no opportunities for Ocho

Maybe, but after the 12 men in the huddle penalty, Ocho was just a memory.

ya, Ocho isnt a part of the no huddle package so there wasnt many opportunities in the 2nd half for him....I wouldnt read too much into it if I was anyone..

after the promise he showed against the Giants, and his good game this week..im pretty positive that Ocho is going to be productive for us the 2nd half of the season...we dont need him to be Randy Moss, we need him to be Gaffney

I'm happy the guy's working at it, that's all you can ask. A game like this casts aside all that "it's easy if you have top talent" bull**** we've been hearing all week. It was a grind and a great defensive game plan leading to a great QB shaking off being out of wack and going to the main guys when it counted.

Nobody's going to waltz in and change the whole game around like Brady Moss did for one unsuccessful year. Most times you have to grind it out and new players take a backseat to proven familiar ones.

I assume that's why Woodhead is playing so much, I really don't see them carrying 5 RBs with such mediocre results, plus mediocre KRs with needs elsewhere.

I like the little guy too, but he needs to shake off the rust or face some competition. He's simply not the same player as last year IMO.

Faulk is the RB whose lost a step
That said Faulk or BJGE shoulda been in there blocking on the safety NOT Woody. That's on BOB.

Thought it was b/c of the no huddle attack and I assume Brady wants WR's/TE
s he trusts.

if I was QBing a no-huddle offense, I'd want Branch and guys who can play 2 positions out there too. Not Ocho.

Hernandez and Woodhead are valuable in no-huddle because you can switch personnel without substituting.

I agree that finding talent at WR in the draft is obviously crucial. I also agree that I have had many down moments right from the beginning regarding the signing of #85 on this team. However, it does seem that Brady honestly believes that they can help him contribute--at least on some level. Either that, or Brady is giving his greatest oscar nominated performance ever of being patient, and helping him to adjust and get on the same page.

Interestingly enough, the Jets were stacking the line/middle more in the beginning, just like DAL, PIT, and the NYG did in recent games. Once Brady connected to #85 on a huge 56 yard gain, they did not seem to do that as much at all. This in turn, created some space in areas at/off the line, and we seemed to take advantage of that as the game progressed.

It's possible that is what they envisioned Ochocinco doing at times, simply drawing attention and coverage away from other receiving options? (once, of course they realized that he would not be contributing as much as first hoped)

Just remember that he does not have to be much more effective than say, Brandon Tate and his whopping 22 catches last yr. Ocho should be able to achieve that output, although he likely won't achieve Tate's yardage. To bottom line it though, Ochocinco may end up opening up the field a bit at some crucial times--in a worst case scenario. In a best case scenario, he and Brady get on the same page; and he ends up catching 3-4 passes a game, including some crucial playoff grabs.

I agree that he isn't my favorite Patriot, by any stretch. But Brady and Belichick seem to think that he has some kind of role here, at least moving forward; and I am starting to actually respect the fact that he is at least shutting his mouth, his twitter account, and seems to be trying hard to be more of a 'team' player. I still think that he obviously has some kind of talent as a WR, and his experience/knowledge or even flat-out route running should at least be an upgrade over last yr's choice of Brandon Tate.

It could have been a lot worse. Let's see if they can take advantage of some easier games, and get him some more reps and opportunities. If it works to our advantage come late December/early-mid January, the whole damn thing will be worth it.

I still don't agree with his cost vs. production aspect, but the salary cap factor has pretty much come and gone this yr, so it's too late to cry over spilled milk.

They obviously feel as though he's still an upgrade and best option vs Taylor Price, who by all accounts was a healthy scratch tonight and could have played if needed. I, like all of us, still want to see what/if Price can offer; but in the meantime #85 may be our best shot at beating some press man coverage down the stretch and into the playoffs.

The best defense is an offense that scores points, and keeps the defense off the field as much as possible. We all know that Brady and the offense is the best bet to take us somewhere this yr, so if Ochocinco is any small part of making that happen--I'm all for moving forward with him and showing my support. I'd say that the past couple weeks certainly don't look as if he's moving in the wrong direction, so that should certainly make some of us feel a bit more optimistic.

for every Andre Carter and Brian Waters there is a Albert Haynesworth and Chad Ochocinco, the pats do this every year sometimes the old vets got something left sometimes they dont the only down fall i see to this is that he's makeing about 5 million more then Tate and he dose not return kicks

YES ,,,,,what a Win ! Stayed up 4am here right till the end which was around 8 am my time. So excited could hardly sleep. My MAN Carter was MVP. Now that Chad did have his best game liked i prayed and hoped and thanks to all that wrote about my prediction, i really believe this is only the start. Coudnt understand why Tommy didnt target him in garbage time at the end of the game just to give him more confidence. We will need Chad in the playoffs. Great game by all, and Congrats. to the Greatest Coach/QB combination in NFL History. We are where we belong,,,on top of the AFC EAST. Peace. Abdul
