I'm hearing rumors on Indy message boards- Peyton to IR

It's weird, I always thought Manning was immune to injury...he never seemed to get hurt. Guess no one is immune.

I read somewhere that his brother's career ended due to a similar type of injury. Oh well, that whoosing sound we just heard was Indy's season going down the crapper ( if news is true )

If this is true (doubt it), I would want them to go atleast 4-12. If they Colts got #1 overall and Andrew Luck that would be horrible luck for the rest of the league in the future.

That would remind me of the year David Robinson was hurt and the Spurs got rewarded by getting Tim Duncan. This would seriously piss me off.

To think: Indy may possibly endure a season that includes losing Manning before the first game and watching Brady (I hope) celebrate a SB win on your field.

I almost feel bad..

Cooper had a spinal condition. It is my understanding that Peyton has a nerve issue.

Mixed feelings on this one.

where does his current neck injury originate from?

which team hurt him?

When Dr. Frankenstein built him he put the bolts in his neck in improperly. He seems to have a strong malpractice case he could probably sue.

yikes, that sounds bad. at what point, fame and money becomes secondary to having a normal life ? I feel kinda bad for him. Get well soon Peyton !

But the colts, after paying 90+ million dollar contract to Manning are screwed

Collins would still be good enough to get the Colts 8 wins
Not a chance. Their running game blows, their defense is built to play with a lead and Collins is done. They won't be picking #1 but if Manning is gone (still an if) they'll be more in competition for Andrew Luck than for the playoffs.

Texans Fans must be rioting and burning downtown Houston right now in anticipation that this news is real.

The Texans get first crack at Indy this week and are the logical choice to win their first division title if the Colts miss Manning for even a 1/4 of the season.

The Jags and Titans are equivalent to the Bills and Dolphins in our division...almost sure fire also-rans,that leaves Houston and Indy.

I wonder how NE fans would act if Sanchez went down for significant time...would it help the Jets or hurt them?

After what we've endured from Bill Polian, that fan base and that team since 04, I don't feel one ounce of pity. We went thru it in 08, they can now feel how we felt. Again, not one ounce of pity from me on this one.

now that is a very debatable question

As I recall, Colts, Steelers, and Jets boards erupted with joy at the news of Tom going down. It's good to see we are somewhat above that level.

If the people around here were like the fans in those cities I would be here .

Manning is on the back 9 of his career anyhow. This is the only way Peyton the media hound) can get his name in the news since he has been demoted to second best NFL QB.
At the end of the 2011 season TFB will be mentioned as not probably but, most likely the best there ever was.
I don't want to sound corny but this year will be for Myra.
As the NFL owes The Kraft family a debt of gratitude, I believe it will be in the form of a 19-0 season
Are you drunk?

Non football injury. He hurt his neck while acting like a fool and yelling "cut that meat!".

I'm not surprised. His head must weigh 70, 80lbs easy.

I say no way the Colts IR him, their season would be shot without him, so its not like they need his roster spot. I doubt he is out ther for week one, but I'm pretty sure he will be there by the time the Pats come calling.

My brother had three neck surgeries because the first two didn't fix the problem. So you never know, but I would call "BS" on any report that says that Peyton is goin on the IR, he may still be hurt, but they are not going to shelve him for the season, at least not yet.....

per shefter (twitter)

Filed to ESPN from @mortreport: Peyton Manning is being revaluated by several doctors bc of slow progress. No other procedure planned now.

Kinda shuts it down.

As much as I want to wash my mouth out with soap for saying this, Peyton Manning is a great QB. I was really looking forward to his playing in Foxboro this year in what could be cold and nasty weather.

I've said all along that the Colts are an 8-8 team without him. You just cannot replace him on that offense. If this is true, it will be a devastating loss to the Colts.

He is just trying to be the hurt HERO. He is favreish

No chance in hell he misses a single game
