No doubt we have some guys who could be competitive in making other rosters that we wont have room for, but the poster was basically saying guys who arent good enough to make our team are better than starters on many other teams.
I might have been the one to reference that initially, If I did, it was poorly stated. I certainly didn't mean that we were cutting people like Leigh Bodden, who could go in as an immediate starter many places. The point is, many of our cuts are not going to be "future tire salesman".... Many will be pretty talented dudes (either vets or rookies) that could go on an have impacts on other teams and will go on to productive NFL careers. Some of them could be starters (this year) in the right circumstances. I'm of the same opinion that you are that Price is a lock (as much as one can be on a BB team), but there certainly has been discussion between him and Tate possibly going. Tate's probably a guy that could start somewhere this year on a injury depleted team this year if he's healthy.
Patchick mentioned Koepplin, he's another. Even our new pick-up Ighea.... Ihop..... umm, you know that guy from the Jets He's no lock to make the team, and he's certainly a guy that could get a call in week 1 or 2 if a team or two suffers a few injuries. He blows in coverage, but he can play and by all accounts is a first team ST guy at the least. Let face it, when your a desperate team, you'll trot out the likes of Hank Poteat if you have too.
Same with Smith. Big consensus that he's an odd man looking in at TE, but as a pass blocking TE, even as a Rookie, he'd be be an upgrade to some teams in that department.
We certainly don't know the cuts at this point, but the overal point, which obviously got lost, is simply that we have a lot a very talented players and not room for all of them. That happens every year of course, but I think the point that was made was that the talent level that we will lose, is (or seems) higher then in the past.........
I can disagree with that.
