So........ are you telling me that with both Vince Wilfork and Albert Haynesworth on the interior of a D Line (and playing well together - which remains to be seen), won't create nightmares for offensive blocking schemes.....
I am telling you that we should at least see Haynesworth get on the field and play football and see that he is not the same player that was about the worst DT in the NFL last year before proclaiming him the most dominant force in the universe.
The point is....... in typical defensive situation...... BOTH, by the nature of their talent/size/athleticism would require 2 blockers to effectively contain. We often see Vince contained effectively with 2 guys (but often times not too ). By putting 2 guys up there that typicaly require 2 guys, then your heaping an s-load of pressure on the line, because, like you said, you can't realistically put 4 of 5 guys on two........ Something gotta give...... The past few years, they double Wilfork cuz then CAN. With Albert there, maybe they can..... maybe they can't. That's what has people salivating.
I'm saying that you are totally misrepresenting blocking schemes in the NFL.
The most misunderstood concept by fans is the double team. It happens a fraction of the amount you want to think (which is a guy like Haynesworth or Wilfork gets doubleteamed every play). I would love you to show me any clips you can find of Wilfork being double teamed as a pass rusher. When you watch the tape and think you see a doubleteam on a run play, pay close attention, because 95% of the time it is a combo block where the 2nd guy gives help before going to his primary assignment, normally a LB. But the internet is a wonderful thing so you should be able to show me a whole bunch of video clips of what you say happens.
When is the last time we had 2 guys on the DL that absolutely commanded 2 guys to effectively contain most times they were lined up next to each other? (serious question by the way).
Again, you are misunderstanding blocking schemes.
We know that Vince is that guy, we highly suspect that Haynesworth will be that guy too (he has in the past at times).
The only doubleteaming on Wilfork has been when he is on the nose, and like vs EVERY 34 NT the G doubles, or even chips then moves on to a LB.
If you really think teams devote 2 players to solely block Wilfork on every play, you need to go to the tape and get some facts.
It's the prospect........ and if you don't think the potential of VW and AH up front together has some devastating potential for this defense, then perhaps its you that needs to learn a bit about the game.
What does that have to do with me saying that we should reserve judgment on Haynesworth playing like a champ the year after he played like a chump until he can actually get on the field.
Are you not at all concerned that a guy who was so out of shape he sucked last year has missed so much practice time mysteriously? You are convinced he is the player he was 3 years ago (which he wasn't 4 years ago btw) and ignoring he was a complete waste of space last year.
I like to think that BB will have him in the right frame of mind and motivation, but you are overlooking who the guy is, at the same time he can't even participate in practice.
Can we have reasonalbe expectations please?
