S. Holmes to stay a Jet

I kind of feel bad for Edwards. He just tweeted that he doesn't think he'll be a Jet again. And he wanted to stick around so much.

...and some people call BB heartless.

Maybe sign here and kill the jets :rocker:

Maybe sign here and kill the Patriots with his uncanny ability to drop passes, take plays off and run his mouth. :rocker:

:singing: :bricks:

I agree - he was happy in NY, and a hell of a player for us. I'll be rooting for him wherever he goes, except when it'd hurt the Jets for him to do well.

just watch out crossing the street the next few days..he sounds depressed and you know what that means...

I wouldn't say that's the worst case scenario, but as for CB, at least there are options out there. If the niners sign Aso, then they cut Nate Clements.

I don't have a link, but EEI today said the Niners cut Nate Clements.

There's been a retraction on that. The team and agent both deny he's been cut as of now.

A lot of stuff happening at once. Schefter tweeted something about an NFL person who was working tirelessly and commented that he was "fully submerged with a mask and snorkel." lol

Considering we are still a day away from when a player can be cut and two days away from when a veteran can sign, there sure are a whole lot of "it's official" statements being made by the sports media right now that are obviously anything but that at this point in time.

Good. I don't want to see that loser anywhere else. He is the typical trash talking NY Jet, nothing but scum.

scum...hmmm...that's what some fat slob's wife gets between her toes before HE picks it out from in between, on camera, gets outed on You tube and then begs for privacy...isn't THAT scum?

yep...seems scum and NY Jet are synonymous

The more I think about this the more I find it ridiculous to even give a second thought to Holmes being back on the jets. The only reason this is of any concern is because the expectation was that the jets would be a lot worse off this year and instead they are looking closer to status quo. They had Holmes last year and look where it got them. They will still likely lose Edwards so they have still dropped a notch.

We should be more focused on the Patriots and how much better we will be this year in comparison. If you compare the difference between last year's versions of both teams to this year's I think you will find we've made a lot more forward progress.

Would be interested in how the Pats have made a lot more forward progress than the Jets

They have a slew of rookie playmakers - McCourtey, Spikes, Gronk, Hernandez - that will make the biggest leap of their careers in year 2. Not to mention Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden are back.

At this point, at least the Pats have drafted 4 players in the top two rounds. The Jets: 1. Other than that neither team has really improved their team via acquisitions. And the Pats have a lot more young players transitioning from their first to second years and second to third years. Plus the Pats added two defensive starters who got hurt before the season began last year in Ty Warren and Leigh Bodden. These players are generally underrated by the rest of the league. The Jets main loss entering last season was Jenkins, who retired.

Whilst I acknowledge the need to add some impact players through Free Agency how anybody can say that the Patriots have not improved the perceived quality of their team with the additions of Nate Solder and Ras-I Dowling needs their heads examined. As you've correctly identified, two major parts to the Patriots juvenile defense have returned adding much needed veteran experience.

As 2010 illustrated, rookies can have an enormous impact.

True, lets just keep in mind that the Jets have young players as well.

Going to be a great year for sure.

Who? Their relevant or projected to be relevant position players 25 or under (let's call that young) are; (*the asterisk denotes talented younger players with NFL potential)

QB - Mark Sanchez (24)
RB - Joe McKnight (23*), Shonn Greene (25)
GU - Matt Slauson (25)

CB - Kyle Wilson (24)
DL - Muhammad Wilkerson (21*)

Compared to the Patriots 25's/U;

QB - Bryan Hoyer (25*), Ryan Mallett (23*)
RB - Shane Vereen (21*), Stevan Ridley (22*)
TE - Aaron Hernandez (21), Rob Gronkowski (22)
TA - Nate Solder (23*)

CB - Devin McCourty (23), Ras-I Dowling (23*)
LB - Jerod Mayo (25), Brandon Spikes (23), Jermaine Cunningham (23)
SA - Patrick Chung (23)
DE - Ron Brace (24)
PU - Zoltan Mesko (25)

The bulk of the Jets talent is between the 26-35 age range. It goes to show just how much growth the Patriots have to achieve let alone the defense.

Including players like Hoyer, and Mallet on there is pretty silly considering that they will not contribute at all this year. Thats what this argument is about right, who has made the most progress for this coming season?

So is listing every rb on the pats roster. If your going to do that, you got to at least inclue Bilal Powell for the Jets.

You also left out Kenrick Ellis, Vlad Ducasse, and I am interested in why you have already given up on Kyle Wilson, but thats ok.

And besides, you want to say the Pats are younger, thats fine. Its about building the best team, not the youngest. And for the record I still like the Pats better than the Jets this year, but it will be very close.

And how does Shonn Green not get an asterik?

He is the most talented back out of both teams.

Learn to read and understand what the asterisk accommodates. If there's no asterisk next to their name, you should probably assume that the player named is NFL quality already.

The players left off the list were left off the list for a reason. You'll notice a plethora of Patriots left off that list too.
