I'd start to look for the pass rush placation to come later in the form of Romeus. I'd be surprised if they took Reed. I'm thinking they get a guard and Vereen this round.

People go in one direction and say "oh, we need more push from the front 7" discounting the fact that only Leigh Bodden and Devin McCourty are our elite corners. The rest of the rotation is OK to average from what they've shown so far.

If Dowling improves the Patriots coverage ability then it's a super pick for mine. Hardly any of the OLB's are coming off the table and are still sitting there waiting to be chosen.

Well, agree. The OLB's are just waiting to be chosen.
I guess the question is by whom.

The last decade or so, not by us.

I don't know, maybe the third down defense was just a lot better than we remember.

Okay, I am clueless...why is everyone staying away from Bowers? Seriously, what is wrong with him.

If you only have 1 pick are you going to take a risk of getting a guy who may never be able to play. My guess is the Patriots can take that risk with 1 of the 2 remaining 2nd rounders

Word is he only has 5 years to play before his knees give out, at best. So teams have to decide which pick to invest in a long rental would be my best guess.

That's right, he's the guy that pulled up lame the last couple yards and still ran a 4.4 flat. Juicy!

pulled up lame, after hurting his knee, ankle, and everything else during the last four seasons, he got hurt at the COMBINE! Money says he is on IR before the first exhibition game!!!

Honestly how many defensive backs does this team need? What is the current count?

McCourtey
Bodden
Arrington
Butler -failed second rounder
Whilite-failed second rounder
Wheately-oops he is already gone, failed third rounder
and now Dowling-an injuried soon to be failed second rounder

Chung
Merriweahter
Sanders
McGowan
Tate
plus the guy they took from Denver last year

and I know I'm missing a few.

Pass Rushers: None.

wtf? There are about 10 things wrong with your post, starting with the draft rounds for Wilhite and Wheatley and Arrington not being a draft point so having no business being in this discussion of drafted assets.

That's without even mentioning that you somehow included Tate as a secondary pick (he's a WR, ffs), and that the Pats have, in fact, taken several pass rushers in the past couple years of the draft.

Anyone know if we had Dowling in for a visit?

So last year you think McCourty is just a slater replacement and no better than Wilhite and now Dowling is a failure before he even steps on the field? Some fans are pathetic. The team has made 2 picks and it is the end of the world. :bricks:

Are we really trying to validate taking a replacement for Slater with our first round pick????

Good God how many DBs does he have to have? Months of planning and the best they could come up with is a gunner? I almost puked!!

Just watched all the McCourty "highlights" on the web. Everyone of his ints were from pathetic throws from Big East QBs who weren't even invited to the combine. All of them he was sitting in empty space and the QB under/overthroew his open receiver and McCourty caught it.

I can't see where he is any better than Whilite, I liked Butler's play last year, Bodden has been re-signed and is a fine corner, so what do they do from here?

and McCourty should have been drafted around the same time Pike will be around the 4th-5th round. There is no way that you can be happy with a first round pick that has ZERO chance (aside from several injuries) of being a starter next year.

stop stating facts FTW..you're gonna confuse all the haters

did the patriots trade their 2nd pick in the 2nd to Denver?

I love when the anyalist always say..."IF" this guy didn't get hurt, he would of been a top 15 player.

REALLY?

There are guys who still aren't off the boards that we were told were top 15 picks this year.

I, Joe Kerr ,would have been a top 15 pick...if I wasn't older than dirt, weigh 300 and run a forty in fifty..minutes...

Hey Free Ted Williams, you need to completely thaw your head before you try to reattach it and use it... those brain cells don't work well cold.

Allen Balley... since Jarvis Jenkins is a goner.

I really hope we trade up and get Harris from MIami.. We can run a 1-1-9
