Whens the last time this team lost two games in a row?
Pats lost to Houston to finish the regular season last year, and then lost to the Ravens in the playoffs.

They also lost at New Orleans and then at Miami late last year.

In 2006 the Pats lost back-to-back home games to the Colts and Jets after beating Minnesota badly to drop from 6-1 to 6-3.

Before that you have to go back to 2002 when the Pats lost four in a row after starting out 3-0, and then lost to Tennessee and the Jets in weeks 15 and 16. Beyond that there was the first two games to start the 2001 season. And in 2000 the Pats lost their first four, won two, and lost four in a row again.

That's it for the last ten years. Not a whole lot of back-to-back losses.

Cr*p. Wasn't Neal the one who said about being in a war-like mood or something like that?

I was hoping for Taylor to play.

Totally agree. Poor Fragile Fred. Only played in 5 out of the last 21 Patriots games. Thats a DNP percentage of 76 percent !

Even sadder, in the 5 games that Fred did play in, he had a total of 166 yards on 43 carries. Thats right. In the last 21 regular season games, Fred has played only 5 times, averaging 33.2 yards in those 5 games, on 3.86 yards per carry.

Yeah your right mo i should have my pom poms out because this team looked so impresive last week against a team that is no where near the talent level of Pitt... Your right we are going to stomp them tom, this d is so dominant, and this offense is like shades of 07... Until Branch gets healthy this team is not moving the ball on anyone.. this running game aint the 78 pats brother...But your right i should think we will club pitt, but then agian im setting my self for low expectations. So what ever happens positive i will be happy..

These steelers aint the '78 steelers either................we got a shot at beating them at their home field, especially if we can get off to a good start this week.

Get your popcorn ready Sean.....you are going to be a happy guy come midnight tomorrow!! trust me.

Maybe Price will be active if all these guys are injured..I really want to see him.

Pryor's no starter, unless you want to make some sort of technical point.
The technical point I think is supposed to be if the guy starts the game he is on the field for the opening snap, even if he only plays another 10 snaps all game.

Pryor did play the opening snap last week, and one other time I think in the last couple years.

But no one is his right mind thinks Pryor is a first string DL. What's his name is just being what's his name, trying to prove with semantics what simply isn't true.

Pryor is a nice backup role player, but his being out does NOT leave us down a starter.

Neal and Connolly split reps last week and presumably would have split reps against the Stillers, too, so our first string is down 1/2 a "starter."

Taylor hasn't played since the Bengals. I'd rather he not play again until week 16 when he can have 2 games to knock off the rust and be ready for the playoffs.

Can't believe I forgot New Orlenas/Miami. :ugh:

Connolly played 2 series at left guard and 3 series at right guard. That doesn't make Neal "1/2 a starter". Neal played more snaps than either Mankins or Connolly.

Of the team's nine total drives, Mankins played seven of them at left guard. He was on the field for 45 snaps (including penalties).

Dan Connolly played five series in the game -- two at left guard and three at right guard (29 snaps).

Stephen Neal played six series, all at right guard (50 snaps).

Consider yourself fortunate. It's like finally getting a terrible song out of your head. Hope you can forgive me for the reminder.

That's pretty good for a starting pitcher.

OUT: Neal and Pryor

IN: Chung and a healthier Branch

To follow up on comment #41, I went back and looked up how the Pats have responded after a big loss since Belichick became the team's coach. I decided to define 'big loss' as one that was 17 points or more, since that would represent a minimum of three scores.

2010, Week 9: Lost to Browns 34-14
Week 10 at Steelers: ???

2009, Wildcard: Lost to Ravens 33-14
2010 Week 1: Defeated Bengals 38-24

2009, Week 12: Lost at Saints 38-17
Week 13: Lost at Dolphins 22-21

2008, Week 13: Lost to Steelers 33-10
Week 14: Won at Seahawks 24-21

2008, Week 6: Lost at Chargers 30-10
Week 7: Defeated Broncos 41-7

2008, Week 3: Lost to Dolphins 38-13
Week 4: Won at 49ers 30-21

2006, Week 14: Lost at Dolphins 21-0
Week 15: Defeated Texans 40-7

2005, Week 9: Lost to Colts 40-21
Week 10: Won at Dolphins 23-16

2005, Week 4: Lost to Chargers 41-17
Week 5: Won at Falcons 31-28

2003, Week 1: Lost at Bills 31-0
Week 2: Won at Eagles 31-10

2002, Week 16: Lost at Titans 24-7
Week 17: Lost to Jets 30-17

2002, Week 6: Lost to Packers 28-10
Week 8: Lost to Broncos 24-16

2001, Week 4: Lost at Dolphins 30-10
Week 5: Defeated Chargers 29-26

2000, Week 13: Lost at Lions 34-9
Week 14: Defeated Chiefs 30-24

2000, Week 7: Lost to Jets 34-17
Week 8: Lost to Colts 30-23

So the Pats under Belichick are 10-4 in these situations, winning eight of their last nine in this scenario. For those ready to concede a loss, perhaps that is something to consider if you are in need of a stat or trend to give you some hope.

We might be in for the worst stretch of the BB era. It's not out of the realm of possibility that we lose 5 straight games(CLE, PIT, IND, NYJ, DET). At this point, the games dont stress me out. I kind of expect the worst and hope for the best. The good news with losing in a media crazy town is the front office will be ACTIVE in the offseason

"Don't worry guys! Help is on the way! Only 6 more months till I come to New England!"

The Jets look to be having more problems on offense than we do at this point. Of course, our defense is usually the cure for those ills, but still. We're playing them at home and they're a divisional rival. The Steelers could realistically stomp us tomorrow night. The Colts are really banged up and are coming to Foxboro and Detroit will be playing without it's starting QB. With all of that said, I doubt we lose the next five games.

Are you willing to suspend yourself from posting in this forum for the rest of the year if the Pats win one of those games?

I've been saying I think we have a real (beyond any given Sunday rules) chance to win this thing. The Neal bit worries me, BUT something tells me we'll actually get some running going on against the these cats, even if the runs start with pitches.

Taylor is good, but we might as well save him for an easier game to get the rust off.

BTW, since we're having a spirited debate about missing starters... Gostkowski anyone? I think this one could hurt a LOT tomorrow. Here's hoping the operation is running smooth with new LS and Graham.
