That Punt was HUGE

Re: Zoltan

what is really amazing about that punt was that it was over 60 yards IN THE AIR it was about 80 yards from foot to stop and it only rolled 10 yards at most it was unbelieveable

he planned it that way...didn't want it to roll into the endzone for a touch...:singing:

Re: Zoltan

Yeah, that punt was quite possibly the play of the game right there. Very clutch. And no, I never thought we wasted a pick on him. A good, solid punter is invaluable. Just ask the '08 San Diego Chargers.

Better yet, let's ask THIS year's Chargers about the value of STs.

Re: Zoltan

Fantastic punter. And still a rookie, so all this irregular punts ll be alright.

Not only ''the punt'' In other, the snap was really bad and he makes it REALLY good. And he is getting better as holder.

Re: Zoltan

"The Punt" was received with shock and awe over here. It was really something else, play of the game.

I do remember a few weeks ago in the game threads lots of "Zoltan sucks, time for a new punter." In fact, they were working punters out. Glad to see Mesko playing well, I really like the guy.

Re: Zoltan

...and let's not forget the earlier punt where the snap seemed to bounce to him and he somehow managed to get the kick off in time. (Not Ingram's best day for sure.)

Re: Zoltan

Anyone still think we wasted a pick on him?

I predicted Hernandez and Zoltan

on draft day..... Dad could not get over it.

He was not a Mesko fan...... He bows to the clutchness

I like the warrior they call Zoltan

I was not here to make my draft predictions I am newish

Re: Zoltan

I'm far more worried about Ingram than I am about Zoltan...

Totally forgot about that but you're right, it should be remembered. Rookie punter in a big game didn't panic at all and got the kick off for around 40 yards I believe. My heart stopped for a few seconds during that play.

Isn't this his second straight shaky game, bailed out by the Zoltan?

"Here's another fine Mesko you've gotten us into!"

Re: Zoltan

Well, I pretty much think it was a game/weather-specific problem for Ingram. Simms was talking during a break about the CBS crew's conversation with Ingram and Mesko. He said that Ingram was practicing snapping the ball at Mesko's knees in order to counteract the gusts of wind that were showing up down at that end of the field.

Normally, Ingram snaps the ball back in more of an arc, so that it land about chest-high for Mesko. By snapping it lower, towards his knees, it didn't have the problem of getting pushed to one side or the other, or possibly hanging for a micro-second in the wind there, and possibly allowing Baltimore's D to block the kick.

respects,

Re: Zoltan

Ingram was iffy against the Dolphins as well, especially on one FG/PAT that went right above Mesko's head but he somehow got down.

Re: Zoltan

4th down at our 16 yard line! Mesko punts it over the returner, and was downed at the BAL 19!

Absolutely fantastic punt!

Pat...Just to ad to above. This occurred in Overtime

Re: Zoltan

I said the EXACT same thing. Except I don't have a wife. I said it to my dad.

Same for me.....only I said it to my passed out drunk buddy and my dog

Re: Zoltan

I really thought the game was over having to punt from close to the end zone. Then came that punt. Sims also made a great point after it. It probably had a crushing effect on the Raven's O, expecting to play from midfield and ending up inside the 20.

Absolutely the play of the game.

Hats off to Mesko, a crappy or average punt there puts Ravens at their 40 or so and opens up the playbook. I have been complaining about our Punters for years and it was nice to finally have somethign good to say.

Slightly off topic Ghost still makes me nervous on big kicks with the game on the line.

Overall our sepcial teams have been pretty good this year.

That was the play of the game. Hope he got the game ball.

It was wicked huge!! Literally and figuratively! I love it when the punt outruns the cameras and they have to hurry up and pan back further than where they expected the ball to be! Go Zoltan!!

That was the play of the game. Hope he got the game ball.

Agree 100%. although there were other "great" plays that contributed to the win this IMHO was the biggest. If Ravens get the ball back around the 40 or 50 yd line they only have to go 15 yrds for FG range. He puts them back at their 20, that is a huge game changing play. Absolutely play of the game.

For me that was the play of the game, if he pulls a Ken Walter on that one we lose.
