On the topic of the Saints, I have to give props to their fans. I was at the Pats-Saints beat-down last season. I went with my folks with them being big Saints fans, having grown up in Louisiana.
My dad had been hearing from work that I better not where a Patriots shirt because their fans had been brutal to opposing fans.
Well I didn't see it. Walking to and from the game, of course I heard a little smack but it was certainly nothing terrible.
Late in the game I had gone to get a soda. Walking back towards my section, a man on the back row noticed my Pats shirt and called out "Who dat?" I walked over with a little smile, put my head down and quietly said "Ya'll dat." He and his wife laughed, we shook hands and talked for 10 minutes. He talked about how much he respected the Patriots.
That's what we heard walking back to the hotel. It wasn't trash talk after losing. (expect for the couple of drunks that don't remember it) It was the respect of what the Pats had done for a decade. It was being very proud of their Saints but also realizing they hadn't won anything yet.
Again, a classy fan base from what I've experienced.
The respect for the Patriots is no accident, your team and fans earned it. All respect to your father.
