Brandon Spikes Video

You are using accomplice and crime together.

I merely said he was an accomplice to the making of the video ... he was.
He's staring right at the webcam ... he knows it was there .. he's an accomplice to the making of the porn video.

I'm done. We have two very different views on morality and logic. You ever wanna chat football on here in the future, I'm not gonna hold any of this against you.

You cheer for Spikes recked ... I choose not to.

You hide behind legal terms ... I choose not to.

Spikes wasn't raped ... watch the video.

I said he was an accomplice ... and he was .. he went along with it.
My statement had nothing to do with him being charged ... merely that he aided in the making of the video ... he was an accomplice. If she was an adult and they broke the law of that state she could be charged but that does not let him off the hook in that he aided in the video ... accomplice.

I have not cheered Spikes. I will if he makes a good play, but in regards to this incident, I do not.

I'm not hiding behind anything at all. If he was under aged and if she was over the age of consent then he was raped by legal definition. He was the victim. No Hiding, just facts that you fail to recognize.

By your definition, someone who has been a victim to statutory rape is an accomplice to their own rape. That is what you said. You are wrong. This is not opinion, it is based on legal definition. Sorry if you don't like it. Too bad.

If you think Spikes is a thug or a pervert or whatever you want to label him, then go ahead and boo him, turn the channel, whatever- I really don't care.

IcyPat, reply if you want, but I'm pretty much done with this thread or at least this part of it. Best to you and the family and have a great day.

They intentionally allowed their porn on the internet?

Please ... stop reaching.

There is a huge difference between he made a movie for personal enjoyment and he made a movie for public consumption ... that's a massive difference.

If he were a Jet your opinion would be the same?

For the record - and I apologize if this has been covered already, I stopped reading the conversation shortly after this post - this was apparently a chatroulette thing. Chatroulette is a one-on-one video call basically, only to a random person. The fact that this now has been leaked means that the person on the other end of the call was recording it, not that Spikes made a video an posted it on some porn site for the entire world to download. That's a far cry from "making a movie for public consumption".

Come on people, we all want guys on D who can also score.

How is it different?

The person on the other end may be recording it for the reason to make it public.

The internet is a public domain ... for the record.

My point is that at some point an organization has to define what it is and what is allowable and what is not. Are you going to be an above board team. A way above board team. A meh team? Or ... are you going to be the Bengals or the Raiders?

I would like to think Mr. Kraft expects our team to be at the top of public perception.

At least I hopes he runs the team that way.

It has to be about more than just winning sometimes and only Christian Peter is not enough to send a message.

Maybe we could trade him? Myself ... I think he brings shame to the team.

Sorry ... I can't change how I feel just to please other people here.
To say anything different would mean I would have to lie about it and make an exception based on him being a Patriot. I don't think this incident should be decided in favor of him because he can help us win.

For the record I apply high standards to the soccer teams I have coached. I've won many sportsmanship awards ... you earn those. I have let a few good players go ... winning is not everything to me.

So once again should Kraft have fired BB for cheating on his wife and disgracing the Patriot organization?

If there was a video of BB screwing another women while he was married and posted on the web at that time, I think you can be pretty darened sure that Kraft would've fired him. It's not the act that some people are upset about. It's the fact a video of it is in the public domain.

Could Tamasse do this and not get fired?
Could Felger do it?
Could Jerry Remy?
a political candidate? Would you still vote for him?
etc.....

I could name a thousand people that would face consequences if they were in Spikes' shoes. Why is Spikes different? I'm not taking sides in this, but moral issues are rarely black and white. Spikes has allowed himself to be placed in a societal gray area. Good luck with that.

I find cheating on your wife much much morally reprehensible than a sex video. If he is going to keep calling for Spikes to be cut, then he must call for BB to be fired.

In fact I think with the exception of a religious leader, almost nobody would get fired over this. At least not in the Northeast. I could see how this would get a principal run out in the bible belt.

Then why is BB still the coach? He is suppose to set the example, but yet he cheated on his wife?

The Internet is not public domain. By a long shot. It's kind of a laughable concept, actually...beyond just the idea that there is a single, unified "The Internet" when it comes to content and not myriad applications and protocols, there are many levels of public and private access. Is a song on iTunes in the public domain just because it can be downloaded over the Internet? No, the rights to the song are held by the label or artist (and, to some extent, Apple).

In this case it was actually of questionable legality (most likely illegal) for the chat to be recorded at all, depending on state laws. Was it stupid? Sure. Was it illegal or immoral? Only if you're of the opinion that sex is immoral, which you obviously are, and I'm not going to argue the point with you. I was just pointing out that the situation isn't like he was standing on the corner in a trenchcoat.

I could care less about whether or not he helps the Patriots win. It's wrong for any employer to attempt to control the behavior of its employees beyond the defined rule of law. I know that it happens - frequently - but that doesn't make it right.

That's much of my point. There are many varying opinions among differing groups of people. I do feel that people would get fired for this even in the Northeast if they were high profile enough, so I suppose we disagree here.

It is your moral right to feel that way. It is also the moral right of others to feel the way they do. I'm also not sure if there was any hard evidence released about BB regarding that situation. Was there?

The internet is public domain? On what basis are you saying that? If every email that you've ever sent got leaked to the public, you wouldn't consider that a breach of privacy?

Might want to re-check your assertion that everything on the internet is public domain, because that fails every test imaginable. It is irrational, for starters, not to mention that all relevant law says otherwise. The internet is nothing more than a communication medium; it isn't inherently either public or private.

And not to diminish your soccer coaching record, or anything, but to imply to it's somehow relevant to this discussion is pretty ridiculous. There isn't a chance in hell that the Pats will cut Spikes. Why? Because if what he did is a cuttable offense, then there goes half the team. These guys aren't saints, and this isn't a morality contest: they're football players, and human beings, which typically means that they enjoy sex. Sorry that Brandon Spikes had to be the one to shatter whatever fairytale it is that you're living in, but human beings do stupid stuff, and he didn't even break any rules or laws.

But with the 24/7 media all looking for a story it reflects badly on the team. You cannot control the media but you can control who is on your team and what is acceptable.

I think Mr. Kraft has to draw a line somewhere. that kids will be able to repeatedly see this and have access to it while Spikes wears the uniform is enough for me to send him packing by trade or release ... either way.

Life can be harsh ... others may see this and change their behavior before they get a chance to be drafted. I'm probably at some extreme of what I expect from my teams ... they're in the media spotlight and I think they must be held to a higher standard. I think the team shines brighter when more is expected from the personal life of it's players.

Kids look up to them ... for better or worse and I like to see it for the better if possible.

I contrast this to the recent Vince Wilfork story ... Vince brings much honor to the team IMO.

You don't know that he cheated ... neither do I.
They may have stayed married as friends ... not enough info to persecute Bill.

I said everything?

I think not ... check again.

I was refering to the concept of publicly available and I did not use the word everything.
