Celtics vs Cavaliers Series

The lack of consistency has been on Defense from what I can tell.

They don't seem to realize how defense opens up offensive opportunities.

They play a game with great defense and put up great offensive numbers. They then think that they can win based on offensive production and let up on the defensive gas pedal.

I think the blowout loss at home when they let their guard down after stealing a win in Cleveland was a nice wake up call. I don't expect a similar letdown Thursday - though that doesn't mean they'll win.

They should go into Thursday's game with your mindset - win now - don't let it go back to Cleveland... but that being said I think they've made it clear that they can win on the road if they play well. So I don't rule out the Celts winning this in 7.

Whether Cleveland has the sack and supporting cast to stop the Celts when THEY are playing well is another matter.
The lack of consistency stems from Pierce and Ray Allen who have been very up and down in this series and pretty much all season. The bench is very inconsistent too but I think that comes back to Pierce and Allen as well. There is normally two of the starters on the floor but if those two guys are having an off night, then when Garnett and Rondo are resting its means trouble.

the celtics dont need lj to have another bad game to win:rolleyes: he might get his 35 points but that doesnt translate to a cavs win. if lj had a great game in game 5 the cavs lose by 10 instead of 30. you really cant see the celtics winning a game on there home court? cmon.

Considering that the last couple of times LeBron has had good games against the Celts, the Cavs had won, I would say that yes, the Celts DO have to limit LeBron. And no, I don't know what to expect of the Celtics. Are you really going to sit there and deny the Celtics Jeckyll and Hyde act? It is very possible that the Cavs win Game 6.

I'm a Pistons fan, so obviously I'm not a fan of either team here.

However-how did Lebron get so bad in this series? Does he have some kind of contract with the goons in Las Vegas?

Either way-if you goes win tonight, I'll be rooting for you against the Magic.

im not denying anything. when someone says they cant see something happening its the same as saying they have no chance. thats ridiculous. i think the game and the series is a toss up. but i can certainly see the possability of the celtics wining the game on there home floor even if lj has a good game.

After that game 3 shalacking, Doc Rivers admitted that with practice prior to game 4, he couldn't recall the last time he blew his whistle and whipped his players.

I think after game 3, he got them back in focus. You would have thought in game 5 when they extended their 1/2-time lead, that the team would relax-Doc kept them in check.

The Cavs just have NO heart-game 5, series tied, you're on your home court, and noone even shows up to play? This isn't on Lebron alone, his teammates did a poor job opening him up for shots too.

If I wanted to say they had no chance of repeating what happened last game, I would have just said that. When is the last time you can remember James having two games like that in a row? Because, to be honest, I can't recall it myself.

Here's the bigger question - why the heck did James not even bother to show up in game 5 - arguably the biggest game thus far for the series for the Cavs, b/c it was 2-2, and they were on their HOME COURT?

If he couldn't get it done when it mattered most, what makes anyone think he can just get his head out of the sand tonight in Boston?

The thing is, its not about LeBron at all, its about Pierce and Allen. If they are at their best it doesn't matter how LeBron plays. A bit like Jordan bagging 63 all those years ago against the Celtics but still losing.

maybe you should have. i think lj will have a good game also. but i can certainly see the celtics winning the game regardless of what lj does. i remember game 7 in boston in 08. lj went off for 45 and the celtics still won.

I'm still appalled about the pre-game antics of James and his team. I was watching one of the ESPN shows and it showed the team doing these air camera shots. Had you seen it, you'd be saying WTF? Can you imagine coming out for a critical playoff game and be horsing around taking poses for a fake camera. Wait, wait, one more shot before tip off..............that was embarrassing.

Outside of Game 5, Pierce has been extremely underwhelming. Allen has been inconsistent. James is more likely to have a bounce-back game tonight than Pierce and Allen are to have games like they did in Game 5.

Like I said, counting on Pierce and Allen to have a repeat of Game 5 instead of LeBron James bouncing back is a bad gamble. And you mention '08, but this is a very different Celtics team than the one that won the championship a couple of years ago. Pierce and Allen haven't been nearly as consistent as they were that year. This team, instead, revolves around what Rondo does. I hope the Celtics win it but, once again, I can't see LeBron having a repeat of Game 5. I think the Celtics are going to have to win it in Game 7 in Cleveland.

Wow - Celtics are looking awesome, Lebron's fading badly, and everyone's biting their nails?

i cant see lj having another bad game either but i can see the celtics wining and beating a team that chokes just like they did last year. i can see that very clearly. the cavs couldnt beat a magic team that had to go seven against the celts without kg. that being said nothing that happens in sports surprises me anymore and hasnt for a long time. there are no absolutes, thats why when someone says they cant see something happening i say really? i bet you didnt see the cavs losing two games at home either.

But thats my point, it doesn't matter how good LeBron is, if those two guys are not firing the Celtics will most likely lose. If both play very well the Cavs will definitely lose regardless of what LeBron does.

:rocker:...UBUNTU ...:rocker:

Nope, I didn't. Very pleasantly suprised the Celtics are beating them right now. Good stuff.

The game is disagreeing with you right now. Allen and Pierce have 10 points combined while Rondo has 12 and the Celtics bench (Tony Allen) is picking it up big time. Garnett is being his usual reliable self. As I said earlier in the thread, this is a different Celtics team than in 2008. This team lives and dies by Rondo and their bench. Right now, it's living by those two and the Celtics go into halftime with a two point lead. If either Pierce or Allen (or both) pick it up, this game won't be close.
