Guess the Derrick Burgess era is over...

There's certainly a learning curve, but the question is how high is the peak of that curve for Burgess. I just don't know how much he has left to bring to the table even if he reaches the top of that curve.

He really started to pick up on the 2 gap in the last few games. One of the last few things I saw him do was finally shedding (cleanly) a block to tackle.
 
Trading for Burgess came at a very high price -- a third and a fifth in this year's draft. Imagine our draft with two picks such as another quality wide receiver and another pass rusher.

This year, Holmes, Washington. lendle white and many others got traded for a fifth round pick or less (simply an in round swap of draft position.)

He barely played a single snap at OLB. I imagine his 2gap technique when they ran against our nickel got a little better, but Burgess' position in the base was that he didn't have one. He was strictly a nickel/dime guy.

I'm trying to give BB a relatively clean slate moving forward. Posts like this, reminding me of last year's stupidities, will not help the cause.
