Obviously I hope Holt plays well but at the end of the day you know this must be KILLING Marshall Faulk so it's a good signing regardless. If Holt plays well and sings BB's praises Faulk might stroke out.

Great Signing!!

PS Schefter tweets that Clayton confirmed it's a 1 year deal, worth up to 1.7M (after he meets escalators)

And the fact that he could be got so cheap doesn't speak to his present worth?

No

But...but...GUYS! He's old!

Hey what's wrong with old?

As long as he can still play. This is a great complement to Moss; two tall receivers. Excellent signing; at least by the Patriots meager standards.

Take that Jets!

I like the Holt signing for the reasons many have listed before me. I also would like to add, Holt has been a dependable veteran and a playmaker for St.Louis for many years. He'll bring a different dynamic to the locker room and training sessions in teaching the younger receivers different ways of doing things.

Interesting pick up. I look forward to seeing what else happens in the next week or so.

A good pick up as long as the front office had determined Holt can actually learn the offense so we don't have a repeat of last year.

I haven't read all these many pages, but I know some people are crying about the guy's age, so let me post this:

Feb 13, 1977
Jun 5, 1976

8 months apart --- want to guess what these dates are?

LOL, I would love to see that.

He's from the Mike Martz school of offense, which I believe is the most complicated one to pick up. I imagine he'll be ok.

You're right and at this point I feel much better about the wide receivers. The idea of Aiken seeing the field on offense makes me cringe.

His birthday and Moss's?

Seriously folks. It's not like the guy was brought in to be the future of the program. A 1 year deal, for lower $$. It's an upgrade over Aiken.

I'll take it.

Not great, but solid, hopefully he is not another Galloway. He was the only one out there.... Does not mean we wont draft one, and hopefully we draft one...

I really hope Golden Tate falls to the 2nd round

The guy caught 51 passes last year for over 700 yards-if he has enough to make the team, then this is a positive move.

Torry Holt is NOT Joey Galloway. He's a veteran with many Pro Bowls to his name and a very good route runner. He used to be blazingly fast
and must still possess enough quicks to put up the numbers he did last year.Since when is a third receiver with a first receiver proven pedigree a bad move, especially for a depleted WR corps desperately in need of some quality experience? The price is right, it's APRIL and there are preseason camps, meetings and evaluations to go through before ANYTHING is set in stone.

I think this is being hugely understated - he caught 50+ balls for 700+ yards last year in a run-first offense. He's a huge upgrade over Sam Aiken.

I like the signing a lot.

I like this signing a lot, too. Not that last year was bad, but I think he'll have a real bounce-back year in a Tom Brady-lead offense.

I was just thinking about this again. I think this means we are not going to take a WR early in the draft. In fact its making me think that BB is looking down the road and is going to use that Raiders pick on a wideout next year.

Hope this ends up better than the Galloway signing

Yup ... if Holt listens to Brady ... it will all be good.

Something tells me Pats and 2nd rd wr does not mix well.
I hope they use 4-6 rd picks on wr and te and see if anything sticks.
I really hope Golden Tate falls to the 2nd round
