Assessment of the '09 draft...

Those variety of combinations as you mentioned meant squat in 2009...or have you forgotten how much of our leads in the 4th quarter melted away last season?.

The players at safety all have skill but there have been breakdowns last season in the last quarters and the Safeties while they were better than the corners at times, had problems keeping leads late and opposing receivers from doing damage as much as any other part of our defense,we simply could not shut down teams that were behind at the end of the 3rd quarter, especially teams with good quarterbacks...that MUST be fixed this year.

4th quarter breakdowns have to be a big issue of fixing with BB and his boys, both safeties and corners....of course a pass rush would be nice as well to help them out.
Yes, that would be the passrush that sucked the entire year until they faced the Bills a 2nd time with virtually no recognisable O-Line.

The forgotten player of the '09 draft has to be Darryl Richard, since he spent the entire year on the practice squad. Yet in the middle of last season the Pats upped his pay to a full roster salary to keep him from leaving for the Browns. Obviously, they must see something in him.

Any thoughts on whether he can make the roster this year? (I was a big fan of his at GT, so I'm rooting for him!)

I posted about him in a different thread. I like him, I hope he can make it.

Thank god someone said what I wanted to.

7th round picks - 2009

Last year we selected Darryl Richard, DT (3-4 DE), Georgia Tech with the 234th pick overall. Why? Because he was 6'4, 290lb and had scored 37 points on the Wonderlic. To quote from NFL Draft Scout:

Mile High Report (the Broncos version of Pats Pulpit) liked him too.

He was rated slightly higher that Pryor by a couple sites, and Pryor looks good.
