Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston [PFT: False]

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

I am surprised that none of these teams with NO offfense didn't pick him up. Like someone said, he's better than about half the QB's playing today.

Maybe he doesn't want to play for them.

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

Doesn't make much sense on a lot of levels. He's been a west coast guy essentially his entire career and now he's been off the field for almost a year. Would have started by now in Oakland yet he chose to walk away. Here he'd be the #3 behind Hoyer... All I can think of is insurance in case Tommy ends up missing a Sunday or even a couple of days practice in December. But again, if you don't bring a WR in this late except in dire emergencies because of the complexity of this offense, you don't bring a QB in either.

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

I'd say Arrington, if Wilhite is healthy.

Ridiculous...............activated and signed for 2 years?...............I'll bet Alexander is cut before Arrington.Did you even watch Sunday's game?

2 years ago, I'd agree. Hes not anymore.

Theres a reason its week 9 and hes still unemployed.

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

He's still better than 1/4 of starting QBs in the league, but I wouldn't want any of them either... Hoyer's the man if we need somebody... hopefully we never do.

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

yes the long-time starting qb whos still better than a few starting qbs in the league would be behind the undrafted rookie on the depth chart

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

He is a legit back up.... i do like it.... just not his persona.

Terdell Sands was signed for two years and Kendall Simmons was signed for three years. What's your point again?

Insurance policy and that's about it.

You agreeing or being facitious? He doesn't know the offense and Hoyer does. That makes a world of difference here. Vinny was never a #2 backup here for that reason...although lots of fans like to assume he was.

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

I wanted this guy during the offseason and then after Oakland cut him and then after Philly cut him. I think he's a perfect backup for Brady at this point.
Isn't Garcia the exact opposite of Brady? With Brady, Gute, Hoyer, Cassel, any of the backups except KOC, they can all run the plays in the playbook. Garcia is nothing like any of these guys.

To me, a perfect backup is a guy who can step in if your starter gets injured.

I like Garcia, in in the right offense he can be excellent. I just don't see the Patriots offense as fitting his skill set, and I don't see him executing the plays in the playbook of any gameday playbook designed for Brady, so I don't see him as an adequate, let alone perfect, backup for Brady.

I didn't see Flutie as a good backup for Brady, either, for the same reasons. If BB differs, then I defer to him

my point?................what does Sands and simmons have to do with Kyle Arrington?

You're suggesting that BB cut a guy,who we just signed off the PS(for 2 years!,no less),partially to keep him away from certain teams(per Mike Reiss),.......isn't THAT what youy're suggesting?

Not putting someone on IR or cutting someone like Alexander or Lockett, who are older and have bigger contracts, but Arrington?..............ridiculous.My advice is the same..............Watch last Sunday's game, then,if Garcia is signed, watch NEXT sunday's game.................Arrington will be on the 53.......again.

Flutie was there to be a veteran presence and bridge to Cassel who had no eperience since HS. Thing is he had an entire off season and camp to assimilate the play book and develop some sense of the offense and rapore with the unit. He taught Cassel the best way to be a viable backup to Brady was to strive to simulate Brady, right down to cadence and mannerisms, making any transition smoother. Worked out well as a blueprint for Cassel. By the end of a season in which we didn't need a backup, Cassel was good enough at simulating Brady that Bill went without a veteran for the first 8 games and then only brought Vinny in as emergency insurance. Although even Vinny had a camp here.

Re: Flash: Garcia on flight to Boston

I love how every time a decent to good player is available fans on here pretend like they know a certain guy is a bad fit for the pats system, as if its quantumn physics. Its football people, most systems are similar aside from terminology and wrinkles. If undrafted/ late round picks can make this team and succeed so cant other players. People just because the patriots did not draft or pursue a guy does not mean bb doesnt want him or think he would be a great fit. But when a talented player is available, it seems its popular to tell everyone that he doesnt fit the system, yet people drool over adam seward who apparently doesnt fit in anyones system considering hes out of football.

Thanks for the input, Mr. Galloway!

I think his point was simply that the number of years in the contract doesn't represent the degree of commitment of the team. Unless there's a significant bonus that would accelerate to the current year, you can terminate a multi-year contract as easily as any other. The Pats routinely add years to cheap deals just in case they strike gold, as with Brandon McGowan. And they routinely terminate those deals when they don't strike gold, as with Terdell Sands.

I didnt say they all work. But none of us know enough about football sytems to know if a players can work in the system or not.
