The end result was the crown of his helmet in Henne's chin, and that will and should get called (and fined) every time.
You're not even allowed to hit the QB in the head with your hand, so of course that's going to get called.
That's gonna be a 25 K fine for Chung. Did you guys see Henne's helmet jerk backwards afterwards--that was nuts! Don't know if the fines are as severe for rookies tho
This is for all of you that think that Chung hit him in the chin. Do you have that opinion b/c you saw Chung hit him in the chin or b/c the announcer said he hit him in the chin?
We'll call this an interesting study on the effect of media.
I've replayed the play on my DVR and while I admit the angle isn't perfect, it doesn't appear that Chung ever hit any part of Henne's head. Not his chin, nothing. Instead it was a brutal hit to the chest, the force of which caused Henne's head to snap back violently. It was picture perfect form tackle.
I found the Dierdorf's performance today to be horrible. It actually ruined the game. I was going to transfer the game from my dvr to dvd but I don't ever want to hear that announcing crew again. That guy is really bad.
So. . . I haven't re-watched the hit, but I can't figure out how his head would move BACK if he got hit in the chest. . . wouldn't that require his neck to be more rigid than his chest? Just basic physics/anatomy here. . . ?
I won't matter if they could fine Meriweather for taunting will he was laying face down they can and will fine Chung for that hit, its getting out of hand.BTW, I have it on DVR and I've seen it on the net...good hard LEGAL hit....more bullcrap from Mike "The Fixer" Carey
Ever been in a fender bender??
Most whiplash injuries occur when a person in a car is impacted from the rear causing the head to snap backwards.
When a person is standing still and gets his body hit from the front, his head wants to remain where it is as the body moves away from the impact. It gives the appearance of the head moving forward. Most whiplash injuries occur when a person in a car is impacted from the rear causing the head to snap backwards. Many times we have seen a QB hit the ground when tackled from the front and see his head hit the ground with force because when the body comes to rest the head snaps rearward. I don't see how a player that is standing still can receive an impact from a would be tackler in the chest that would cause his head to move backwards if his head is untouched.
