Anyone else hear this? Late in the fourth, with about 4 minutes left on the clock, the Doll-Fiends were using up all their timeouts. I thought that was whack, but then Dan Dierdorf says that's what Sporana usually likes to do in games, use his timeouts before the 2-minute warning, and Dan thought "it was really a good idea against the Patriots."

Good idea???

Was it still a good idea when they got flagged for delay of game because the QB tried to call a timeout when they didn't have any left? Or when the Pats pretty much had the game won with 2:50 left? Or is it just me?

i dont know if it was such a bad move, trying to get the ball back with as much time as you can in the hope you can put together one game tying drive. miami is not what anyone would call a high power passing attack that is gonna march down the field to tie the game late. they need to be able to run as well.

Personally, I also thought it was a good move by their coach.

Dude, Dierdorf is the biggest idiot announcer there is, IMO.

Every time we get him I cringe, he constantly downplays anything well we do, and just gets on my nerves in general. I can't stand him at all.

yeah..heard that sitting here with five other die hards...we went crazy.l..he's ALWAYS been anti-Patriot...that's probably why they pulled Simms and put this duo in, to go along with Carey coddling the Phins all game. Too bad the league didn't get what they wanted. Tough

yeah...a real terrific move...especially when Carey came running in to move the first down spot on Maroney's run back enough to make it 4th down...too bad Boobarano forgot he was out of timeouts...probably thinking of all the grease he was going to clog his arteries with after the game.

I agree. It got the Phins the ball back with 3 mins and changes. Thats plenty of time to move down the field. As for Dierdorf, I don't understand the hate for this guy. He is one of the best analyst around.

you obviously haven't heard him do many Patriots games....in fact he was so bad he was removed a few years back from doing them...I guess the league thought today was the day to try to get all their haters on the same page....real nice one sided ref job by Carey....what a freaking joke....Patriots win this game by 3 plus TD's if not for Mike The Fixer

Yeah i remember that another dierdorf dumbazz comment

Burning the time outs was the right move. It got them the ball back with just under 4 minutes. Its not the coaches fault when his QB (making on his 5th pro start) fails to recognize the game situation (that his team is out of time outs)

I have have never head that but i believe it after listening to dierdork today. I can't believe hes a doctor.

Welcome to the boards Mrs. Dierdorf, sorry to have ripped on your son

The move that perplexed me was going for it on 4th and 15 inside their 30 area with 3 minutes remaining.

From the Pitt game last season...an excerpt...Dierdork should NEVER be doing Patriot games...

From there, in order to back up the rambling wreck that was Dan Dierdorf, CBS felt it was necessary to show random shots of Troy Polamalu. There were numerous shots of Polamalu on the sideline, when the Pittsburgh’s offense was on the field. Neither Dierdorf nor Gumbel said anything about him, they were just making sure the viewers were still aware Polamalu was on the Pittsburgh Steelers.

CBS then forced in a flashback to what was admittedly an unbelievable interception by Polamalu two weeks prior versus the San Diego Chargers.

Pittsburgh’s defense is the best in the NFL and Troy Polamalu is one of the best defensive backs in the game, so it is understandable that they receive a great deal of attention during the game. With that being said, there are two teams on the field and both deserve praise and criticism during the course of the game.

The bulk of the Polamalu praise came before he made his interception on a horrible Cassel pass. He had recorded only two solo tackles up until that pick, so he really wasn’t affecting the game enough to be the focal point. Lamar Woodley, Casey Hampton, and James Harrison deserved much more of the focus.

The continued bias in the booth is becoming a problem in all national sports broadcasts. I may be more sensitive when it comes to Boston teams and at times I may be oversensitive.

In baseball, basketball, and hockey the majority of the games have local broadcasts, but in the NFL that is not the case. If any fan of any team is forced into watching a national broadcast, then they deserve an unbiased and well-analyzed broadcast. Dierdorf has failed to do this for years and especially for the Patriots.

When you get booted out of the Monday Night Football booth for Dennis Miller, you know you may not be cut out for commentating.

It is time CBS showed Dierdorf the door and he can bring Randy Cross with him. Phil Simms should teach a course on a color commentating. Dierdorf and Cross should be forced to sit front row, right in front of Simms before they are part of any broadcast in the future.

Doctor? Did you say doctor?

I'm assuming he has a PhD. Do you know what it's in?

I can see him now screwing everything up, downplaying everything the Pats do,---then running off and performing open heart surgery with a shoestring and a ball point pen

I couldn't agree with you more, I really noticed it in the NYJ game, and also today was horrible. He really seems to have a bias.

I don't see the complaints about Carey. Pats got 2 PIs in their favor that should have been called and were called. Yeah, the refs missed the hit well beyond 10 yds on Moss at the 1 yd line but refs miss stuff EVERY game.

As to Dan D, my favorite Dorkism was when he said "The Dolphins are GOING FOR IT ON 3RD DOWN!!!" Moron.

Carey could have flagged the Dolphins 30 times for P.I. if he wanted to ,PWP (OK, I'm exaggerating)...how they miss a TWO PLAYER PI on Moss at the 1 is beyond my ability to understand the refereeing...how more blatant do you need to see?

Maybe he isn't, i'm just going on what i thought i heard one time during a broadcast. I thought someone mentioned that he got his PHD.

if you are the pats and you got brady a HOF... QB moss a HOF... WR and welker the best slot WR in the game all you need is 2 min

but if your the fish and all you realy got is the runing game then you need more time

yes haveing 3 time out's and the stop at the 2 min mark may be better then just haveing all most 4 min

but it give he's D more time to think about how they will stop the runing game and short passing game from geting a first down

and it worked he got the ball back

the fact that they lost mean's noting that's all a coach can do is try to get the ball back for the O in the hope that they can go down the field and get a TD its up to the players after that
