Take the physical. sit out till week 10 play the 7 games and become an ufa
And then Oakland has the right to franchise tag him for 1-2 years. Seymour has NO leverage other than the Retirement option.

This better get resolved soon.
Contrary to what some think, Davis and the Raiders can easily void this deal if they grow disenchanted and their medical team gets its hands on Seymour.
Each team has it's own medical guidelines apparently, and all the Raiders neeed to establish is that Seymours physical condition does not meet their needs.
See Lee Suggs:
Its not that simple. The team can appeal, and then he gets inspected by the league appointed third parties.
Suggs is exactly the opposite situation: HE WAS ACTUALLY HURT, and the team was lying about it. Thats what the void clause is for.
And then Oakland has the right to franchise tag him for 1-2 years. Seymour has NO leverage other than the Retirement option.
Yup, there's a pretty large precedent for trades being voided on account of failed physicals. So yeah, if he doesn't report, that's probably their out,
Do you really think Oakland will franchise him after he sits out 10 weeks? KNOWING that hes going to sit out another 10 weeks? Teams can't afford to act out of spite like that. They'll end up paying $30+M for Seymour to play 18 games max.
If they do tag him, it will be to trade him.
No, that only works for a Franchised player who hasn't signed. Seymour has a signed contract. The frequently mentioned 5 day letter REQUIRES him to show up (i.e. NOT SIT OUT) for he misses a year without accruing a year towards free agency.Take the physical. sit out till week 10 play the 7 games and become an ufa
Where is the resource that confirms the Browns lied about any injury? And for that matter, if he was injured enough to fail a physical why did the Dolphins pick him up and hold him for a month?
Yup, there's a pretty large precedent for trades being voided on account of failed physicals. So yeah, if he doesn't report, that's probably their out, although considering that he was playing in the preseason, and all of the scrutiny surrounding the situation, it wouldn't surprise me if they tread delicately so it doesn't look like they're just trying to sink the deal. Who knows...

If anyone thinks Al Davis is going to simply send Seymour a 5 day letter at some point, and say to himself "Them's the breaks, my bad" if Seymour fails to report afterward. They don't know much about Davis.
If they tag him and he doesn't report they don't have to pay him though. He would again only get paid for the weeks he actually showed up to play.
Suggs has a bad knee. It was clearly not disclosed in the trade.
Nobody thinks Al Davis is just gonna take it. The point is, he can ***** all he wants, but theres nothing he can actually do that doesn't involve some physician losing his license.
That's messed up but it does dictate that it's in his best interest to show up and take the physical. Until then he has no power once the letter is sent.It requires him to show up and take the physical, and report. He can then hold out like any other player. Once he shows up, he can no longer be put on the 'did-not-show-up-reserve-list'

Why would a physician lose his license?
It is the team that sets the standard for what they require to be physically fit enough for the player they are getting. One doctors opinion does not mean another must have the same. Particularly when they are under private employment with one of the most sue happy owners around.
Now, I think Davis wants Seymour bad and will give him plenty of time. But I also think the sooner that Seymour gets there the better.
