Indeed, it is garbage like this thread that gives message boards and homer fans bad reputations - and deservedly so.

Thank goodness there are a few people willing to take the time to share a little balance. There's always a reason to hate - and people are real good at hating. What is often forgotten is that there are also reasons to love, admire and respect. Our culture, particularly our message board culture, doesn't like to acknowledge these reasons much less put them into practice.

So take it for what it's worth. You can find reasons to denigrate anyone you want - and many on this board will do just that. Or you can step back and realize that what really drives you to find fault in others tend to be the faults in yourself that maybe, with a little practice, you can control. You can even choose to change and be a little less bitter and a little more forgiving.

I've hated the Tuna since he left us, I've hated every current coach that has beaten us. As soon as they retire though I'll re-evaluate it. Like for instance Tony Dungy. I despised the man up until his retirement, now I gotta say he was a great coach and I respect him for what he has done in the game. Sometimes it takes a couple of years and with one or two like the tuna it would be hard to ever get over it. But at the end of the day the only thing that matters is that the Patriots remain the top team in he NFL.

Its the same with other sports too, I still can't bear the sight of Joe Torre.

See this is my point, why should we play by your made up rules regarding Shula. You yourself use words like hate and despise when describing other coaches but become unraveled when people say something negative about Shula. These aren't matters of life and death, we are on a messageboard discussing football and talking about an opposing former coach who takes his little potshots at this orginization and BB every chance he gets. Why doesn't Parcells deserve the same level of reverence that Shula gets, why not Torre?

Shula's record is amazing, I don't think there is anyway anyone gets near that number of wins, let alone with that win percentage.

And he won two SB's and took his teams to at least 5. Shula is one of the all time greats.l

I have never set foot inside one. He might have been a great coach and earned his spot in Canton, but I don't have to make him money.
