Lots of money gone and the team will still be where it is...in the basement..The NFL has to do something about these first 7-8 slots and the tons of money teams are shelling out for what could be poor picks. Even if they hit it with a few, football is a team game. The Lions need help all over the place...this will not help them all that much.

I don't like the Stafford pick at 1. He's not better than Ryan, and the team has nobody on it to help him out other than Johnson. I would have picked a lineman.

The tons of money isn't the problem. The problem is that these teams are crappy at evaluating talent, which is why they're up at the top of the draft anyways. Theres nothing for the NFL to fix: These teams need to fix their personnel departments.

If Stafford is worth 78 million what is Tom Brady worth. If Brady stays healthy and has a great year or two his asking price could be very high.

IMO, I think Jeff Backus holds the left tackle position, while Cherilous holds the right tackle position. I can't think of one player worth their time at the 20th spot. Defensive tackle should be on their list but I think the Lions should take Brandon Pettigrew at 20, who could benefit the team out of the gate with this ability to block and become a safety valve for Stafford in the passing game.

Then drafting Laurinaitis at 33 fits well but can the Lions take a Buckeye? Ron Brace and Ziggy Hood are safe picks here.
