Oh yea those players trying to make the team play at half speed. I have seen more hellacious hits during preseason then I ever have during the regular season. Truthfully, I bet I have seen almost as many injuries per preseason game as I have during the regular season. I remember the preseason game that two starters got hurt, Lippett, and Tippett and I thought at the time cost us the season, remember that game? Good thing they were playing 1/2 assed.
Integrity?? I doubt you even know what that word means...please tell me about "integrity"...please..No interest in integrity...........just wins and losses? Got it.
Whine all you want about people losing their jobs or whatever other bullsh*t you see fit.........."Triple Option"
Your a class act pal.

Oh, save your guilt trips for someone who cares. Why should an industry that is flourishing change their business practices so whiners like you feel better? Take your socialist BS somewhere else. If you were an NFL player, you wouldn't care either.
Obama's president pal. I'm trying to get used to this whole socialist thing myself. Its an adjustment.
The first thing you might want to do is break out a dictionary and look up the definition of socialism, because you're clearly parroting claptrap you picked up on Glenn Beck or Hannity that has little basis in reality.
Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals..............how's that?
I don't know about your critical thinking and reasoning ability, but you've got the copy/paste thing down pat.
LOL. Thanks JackBauer.
The only guys going full bore are the ones trying to make the team. Are you seriously trying to argue that players go at it just as hard in the Preseason? Really?
From the CBA:
ARTICLE XXXVIII
SALARIES
"Section 12. Number of Regular Season Games: The League and/or Clubs cannot at any time during this Agreement increase the number of regular season games per team from the standard of sixteen (16) without providing ninety (90) days notice in writing to the NFLPA and thereafter negotiating with the NFLPA with regard to additional compensation to be paid to players for additional regular season games. If the parties are unable to agree on additional compensation within thirty (30) days after notice has been given, the issue of additional compensation may be submitted by either party to the Impartial Arbitrator under Article XXVII (Impartial Arbitrator) for an expedited hearing and a final and binding decision. The Impartial Arbitrator will have the full authority to decide the amount of additional compensation to which the players will be entitled. In no event will the regular season be extended during this Agreement to include more than eighteen (18) games per team."
In ARTICLE XXIV
(b)Benefits..
(v) Preseason per diem amounts (as described in Sections 3 and 4 of Article XXXVII) and regular season meal allowances (as described in Article XXXIX);...
(ix)Postseason pay (as described in Article XLII and Article XLIII);
(c)
“Salary” means the compensation in money, property, investments, loans or anything else of value to which an NFL player (including Rookie and Veteran players and players whose contracts have been terminated) or his Player Affiliate is entitled in accordance with a Player Contract, but not including Benefits
Please look at Article XLII for the postseason pay
Obviously you don't watch many preseason games. Or know who Andre Tippett was. Perhaps one of the reasons players hate preseason games is some players are giving everything, while some players aren't. I guess you don't really mind if some of the players get hurt as long as they aren't superstars.

I think it would be interesting to read about what the CBA was like in 1978 when that increase of two games happened. I doubt any older things like that are online...too bad....even reading about those negotiations would help.Thank you very much, this is informative. I was trying to find info on how compensation was increased when the league moved to 16 games but couldn't find much (on the first page of google results).
To me this implies the following
1) with only 4 months of negotiation time the union might not want the matter to go to arbitration quickly or that they might not like that the timing could be dictated by the league.
2) the CBA expires at the end of 2010 (I believe) so then the union is working to set the agenda their way.
3) making a somewhat public issue out of this is simply additional leverage in negotiations for the next CBA, and the union is acting in their self-interest to start finding as many issues with the current state of affairs to stack the deck in negotiations in their favor.
Very interesting.
