Never realized Adalius had such a big mouth

If AD played as big as his mouth it would be worth the $117 per ticket I have to pay to watch him play, until then he should shut up because he is way overpaid for what he does.

I sure have, have you. Oh yea those players trying to make the team play at half speed. I have seen more hellacious hits during preseason then I ever have during the regular season. Truthfully, I bet I have seen almost as many injuries per preseason game as I have during the regular season. I remember the preseason game that two starters got hurt, Lippett, and Tippett and I thought at the time cost us the season, remember that game? Good thing they were playing 1/2 assed.

The only guys going full bore are the ones trying to make the team. Are you seriously trying to argue that players go at it just as hard in the Preseason? Really?

No interest in integrity...........just wins and losses? Got it.
Integrity?? I doubt you even know what that word means...please tell me about "integrity"...please..

Whine all you want about people losing their jobs or whatever other bullsh*t you see fit.........."Triple Option"

Your a class act pal.

Oh, save your guilt trips for someone who cares. Why should an industry that is flourishing change their business practices so whiners like you feel better? Take your socialist BS somewhere else. If you were an NFL player, you wouldn't care either.

From the CBA:
ARTICLE XXXVIII

Number of Regular Season Games: The League and/or Clubs cannot at any time during this Agreement increase the number of regular season games per team from the standard of sixteen (16) without providing ninety (90) days notice in writing to the NFLPA and thereafter negotiating with the NFLPA with regard to additional compensation to be paid to players for additional regular season games. If the parties are unable to agree on additional compensation within thirty (30) days after notice has been given, the issue of additional compensation may be submitted by either party to the Impartial Arbitrator under Article XXVII (Impartial Arbitrator) for an expedited hearing and a final and binding decision. The Impartial Arbitrator will have the full authority to decide the amount of additional compensation to which the players will be entitled. In no event will the regular season be extended during this Agreement to include more than eighteen (18) games per team."

Obama's president pal. I'm trying to get used to this whole socialist thing myself. Its an adjustment.

The first thing you might want to do is break out a dictionary and look up the definition of socialism, because you're clearly parroting claptrap you picked up on Glenn Beck or Hannity that has little basis in reality.

Socialism refers to a broad set of economic theories of social organization advocating public or state ownership and administration of the means of production and distribution of goods, and a society characterized by equality for all individuals..............how's that?

I don't know about your critical thinking and reasoning ability, but you've got the copy/paste thing down pat.

Obviously you don't watch many preseason games. Or know who Andre Tippett was. Perhaps one of the reasons players hate preseason games is some players are giving everything, while some players aren't. I guess you don't really mind if some of the players get hurt as long as they aren't superstars.

Thank you very much, this is informative. I was trying to find info on how compensation was increased when the league moved to 16 games but couldn't find much (on the first page of google results).

To me this implies the following

1) with only 4 months of negotiation time the union might not want the matter to go to arbitration quickly or that they might not like that the timing could be dictated by the league.

2) the CBA expires at the end of 2010 (I believe) so then the union is working to set the agenda their way.

3) making a somewhat public issue out of this is simply additional leverage in negotiations for the next CBA, and the union is acting in their self-interest to start finding as many issues with the current state of affairs to stack the deck in negotiations in their favor.

Very interesting.

Sure but I mean, come on. Most don't. And I'll ask absolution from the board ahead of time on this, but hell, most Pats don't go full bore even in the first month of the regular season.

Are you kidding me? Really? You're going to make this argument? AND pretend I don't know the game or watch it? Wow.

OK, enough with the bullsh*t. Do you consider Preseason games the same as regular season games? No argumentative crap. Just YES or NO.

I think it would be interesting to read about what the CBA was like in 1978 when that increase of two games happened. I doubt any older things like that are online...too bad....even reading about those negotiations would help.
Not sure why the negotiations are timed at only 4 months...I think it will be interesting to see how much Goodell pushed for the 17 or 18 game season in May when the owners meet again. Goodell has already back tracked on that some...but if one looked at what he said., it's a done deal for teh owners.
I think the owners are doing the exact same thing in trying to set teh agenda. There was this trial balloon that was sent out about putting the draft before free agency..which is like changing business practices so that the union will have to win back something that was already in existence. This 17-18 game schedule is also the same way..but it will also affect the whole offseason program. Dumping two preseason games will get players ready but basically ditch talent evaluation and development. But Goodell REALLY could care less about that. He's hell bent on 18 plus to "improve quality".
The union is also dealing with changes that teh NFL is threatening as wlel as what is there now. When owners all of a sudden threaten changes and then use these as chips for bargaining it is really not so doing it in good faith.
These are important negotiations and I am very pessimistic with rookies at it.

If you put yourself in AD's shoes, I bet you would tend to agree with him. I know that I would.

Sure, he makes more money than most here... but, so what? If you could be in the NFL, you would have to agree with him.

you have to agree with him. if your boss asked you to work 6 days a week instad of 5 for the same pay would you be happy with it? that is essentially the argument. as a fan yeah i would love to see more games. but as a player do you really want to put in another couple of days work when ur normal days work is millions for thousands? its pretty silly to say they are spoilt for complaining.

I hav to say i agree with AD also the cap may increase for the team but I bet the number of players on a squad would so that would take effect on the amount they get paid for a game lets face it we don't see the all the stars play in the pre season they get paid to play 16 games but get it over a longer period. All teams would need more roster spots and more cap room for them however for current players would this get them paid more?

I am not sure how the cap is decided but if they increased cap room and roster spots there would need to be a greater increase in cap room I believe we would need to see a % per player for example if there were 50 players on a squad and the cap was $100million that would be $2mil per player if it were increased to 60 player the cap would need and increase to $120mil to keep it at $2mil per player so current players can get paid on a equal scale to what they get now. However known Goddell the cap would stay the same as would roste size.
