Peppers trade rumor on the radio

It's ALL a crap shoot. Matt Cassel is no more a sure thing than the top 20 picks in this draft. IMO his value is around that of a mid 1st at BEST. He's not worth giving up on a "potential" future Ray Lewis or Jonathan Ogden for IMO.

Have to disagree here.
Matt Cassell has played successfully in the NFL.
That's a sure thing.
Comparing him to a potential Lewis or Ogden, well I just don't get it.
Cassell is better than 50% of the QB's in the league - period.

Time for some logic math:

Pioli agreed with Bill that Matt was the #2 and that there would be no vet to come and "save the day".

+

Pioli was chosen largely because of his body of work with the Patriots to run the Chiefs.

=

If Pioli goes after Matt, he has confidence in him. The owners have confidence in Pioli. If Scott goes after Cassel the whole league will know that he is believed to be the real deal.

The idea that he won't do it because it looks bad is silly. If each team gets what they want, it's win/win. In these cases, a tie is acceptable. Just don't tell McNabb, hehe.

Actually I think you under valed MC a bit....for those that do not think he is at least better than 50% of the starting QB's today......please name 16 that are better.

Your logic makes no sense. Yeah you have the potential to get the "future Ray Lewis or Jonathan Ogden", but you also have the "potential" to get the future Mike Mamula or Eugene Chung.

And given the fact that he has been successful as a starter in the NFL makes him more of a sure bet over any future draft pick at any position.

So in theory there should be 16 teams getting in line for a trade.

As Rod Blagojevic would say, "I got this thing, and it's f*ckin golden".
"You don't just give it away."

No, two words: Exisiting Contracts.

You think the Raiders would like The Cassel? Yup. Can they afford him? Nope.

Well we can almost make a thread out of this. Arms? What the hell does he know about arms? Here is a list of the potential starting QB's in the NFL (not including Brady) and where their "gun" should rate. Cassel is without question in the top ten. I wish Elmer Fudd Clayton would look at this so he can straighten out his thought process instead of holding it on "dumb ass". Where did he pull that weak armed crap out of? His head....... probably because it is up his.....anal cavity. I wonder if he has ever watched an NFL football game.
Please tell me where if any of these arms, that you disagree with. Many are rated where they are because of the arm they have today, not five years ago. I tried to be objective. I had trouble between Big Ben and Cassel.

If you're dealing with the very team that made you who you are and you just came from? yeah I do. And we're talking about a lot more than just a QB choice. This a franchise make or break move. If Cassel becomes the next Scott Mitchell than Pioli's cooked in about 5 years from now.
So what if Stafford is Ryan Leaf or Curry is Lavar Arrington? What is the difference. One is proven and one not. End of story.

I'm talking about if it doesn't pan out 3 years from now. Knowing that he's a former GM of the Pats only puts more pressure on him if he goes with Cassel. But either way he'll be judged on the decision he makes at QB.
Bakes, Pioli drafted the kid!... He knows more about him than any of these others. If his reputation or status will be affected as you say, all the more reason to take Cassel over an unknown kid you are breaking the vault for. If you have seen the combine, White is the best QB and he is a WR in the pros .Sanchez rots. Stafford won't even throw...why not!
Cassels stock is rising so that must be disappointing to you.

Like I said it's a crap shoot either way. I agree that Cassel is a safer bet than Stafford/Sanchez. But not necessarily a safer bet than Aaron Curry or Jason Smith.

Why would that be disappointing? Just because I don't look at everything thru red and blue shaded glasses doesn't mean I don't want whats best for the team. I like to be objective and rational that's all!

Young man, you do have an agenda here. Can we have some amens on that?
Smith and Curry are great safe picks. Safe is good if you are fearing what you are trying to accomplish may be a failure. A team with no QB is a dead team. Put that in your sermons to remember for another day.
