Gracia was impressive with a good running game. With tavaras jackson and 9 in the box peterson was running wild. A young QB like matt needs a running game giving him 5 yards a carry on avg.

if we cannot run no qb is going to help .

Isn't the vaunted Garcia siting on the pine while Tamper Bay's statah puts up a QB rating under 50?

Does that indicate that maybe, just maybe, urinating away a 2nd round pick for Garcia, a pick that could bring in a decent OT might not be the way to go?

Garcia's in Gruden's doghouse right now. That said... no way should/would they give a pick that high for him. Maybe a 4th rounder.

A 5th or 6th max. By trading him, TB would save $2mill in cap space. If they dump him, they get nothing, no picks or space.

Amazing stuff. I am not amazed that people want some salvation from the QB woes, I am amazed that people think that is actually a POSSIBILITY of happening. Sure, we might bring in a third QB for depth, but certainly not one that will cost much in the draft pick or money range.

Cassel may see time split eventually with O'connell, but he ain't going anywhere and we are not going to squander money/draft picks for a band-aid. BB will game plan as always with the personnel we have, and we will try to play the best game we can for that given day, but the man has never been prone to panic.

Sometimes I wonder if you people have been paying attention to BB all these years.

Garcia shouldn't cost more than a second day pick. He wants out of Tampa, and Gruden has put him in the doghouse for some reason. Time for a change of scenery?

Cousin, It's called arrogance. BB will run the Cassel thing into the ground or he will blow off the season. Cassel is not a leader. He has no fire. He is scared out there. We need somebody else to salvage the season be it Gutz or O'Connell. Cassel has no confidence from his team or in himself. They do not play for him. We have the weapons. Even Culpepper is a better alternative.
If we had points on the board, the single wing is not a play that they stay with. It makes a different game plan. They dictated that to us because we could not score.
What is all this love about Cassel? He was very bad in pre-season and he has not gotten any better. He is not 01 Brady.

If BB is going to go get him, might as well do it now right, during the bye week?

Hard to believe you have not come under attack for this statement.....Not that I disagree

Garcia right now is a vet leader QB available for "relatively" cheap. His cap number wont interfere with the signing of anyone, he is the insurance we need to not waste a whole season without a proven backup QB(boy that sounds familiar--from about a month ago). As Garcia learns the playbook the fire is LIT under Cassel and its Cassel's job to lose. If he loses it, he likely wouldnt have done well in the playoffs anyways!! If he keeps Garcia on the bench, I would still gladly pay a 3rd rd pick for the insurance and motivation Garcia should bring to the team. We have alot of vets on this team that dont want to lose a year just because Brady goes down and would appreciate the FO going after a guy like this...and positive player aquisition always is important in the ultra competitive area of FA recruiting.

Well said......perfect

Garcia would be a huge fit.I dont know why people dont think so.The guy plays for Tampa Bay who isnt exactly an offensive juggernaut. He can put up 200 plus yards in his sleep.

Well, aside from the fact that he would wipe out most of their remaining cap room. . . .

It would say that BB and Pioli feel that a 4x Pro-Bowl QB is a better option then a career backup. It would say that they were paying attention a couple years ago when Garcia stepped in for the eagles after McNabb went down and got them to the NFC championship game.

Like somebody already said, and effective offense takes pressure off the defense. This defense is in transition and needs that protection.

He's played for two teams that weren't running the West Coast offense. How well did he do for them?

Let me give you a hint..... He averaged under 160 ypg for each team.

Not only that, he's mobile and in this offense with this offensive line playing the way it is, that would pay huge dividends.

He has seen all kinds of PLAYOFF QUALITY D's before. The learning curve for him will be the playbook not the Defenses. He makes the team better....and you cant take the cap room with you......Would you rather see him, Lynch or Seau??? No contest!

Jeff Garcia is a 39 (next month) year old player who got a very talented Eagles team to the second round of the playoffs two years ago, left there because he still wanted to be a starter, got Tampa off to a good start a year ago in the same West Coast offense he's only ever played in only to wear out so badly down the stretch Gruden had to rest him for down the stretch only to have the upstart Giants bounce him out of the first round with HFA. For that he demanded a raise which Tampa wisely declined to pay and he sulked throughout an injury plagued TC and preseason only to be benched after sucking in their opening game loss and replaced by another aging JAG with a better attitude who has not played any better in two wins.

I think those of you who still persist in wanting him should just hold your breath until Bill complies. I'd say it's been great knowing you all, but I'd be lying.

You're 100% correct. I'd take Seau, every time. No contest.

Jeff Garcia is 38, he will be 39 next year.Obviously u didnt see Garcia's first game with tampa bay.If this guy was here, i am sure the mood all around would be jumpy, especially Moss.Moss knows that Garcia can get him the ball and knows his credentials. He sees Cassel and all he does is bite his tongue.
