Don't get me wrong, I love Ellis Hobbs. I think he showed some great talent, especially during the middle third of the season. He showed more heart, especially in the running D (anyone remember when he broke two outside run plays against the Bills by literally throwing himself on the ground and screwing up the blocking).
I just have to take into account that maybe we are overating him just a little because of the position he took when he started. I mean, we were all absolutely devastated by the multitude of secondary injuries, and here comes this 3rd round pick, size-limited, youngster take on some very solid WR's. Maybe, in the hype of it all, we overrated him just a little. Don't get me wrong, I think he could EASILY develope into a #1 CB, but I dont think he's there quite yet. Anyone remember him getting beat pretty badly in the Denver game? The Rod Smith TD is one example.
I think he's a very very good excellent #2, but I think it's a bit too early to put him over Asante. The first few games should solidify his spot at #3, #2, or possibly #1.
