In the game vs. the Ravens, the Ravens scored two in the last two minutes and Haley berrated John Harbaugh after the game for running up the score. In a preseason game?!? He felt that Harbaugh should have had his team just take a knee.

I feel that teams seriously neglect practicing the victory formation in the preseason, but isn't the last few minutes of the second preseason game valuable to evaluate bubble players and give back ups playing experience they won't get in the regular season? Is Haley's ego so fragile that he can't handle his third stringers most of whom won't make the team getting smoked by the Ravens' third stringers?

Haley's ego is well known to be out of control and he already refused to shake Josh McDaniels' hand for running up the score last year. I hope to God that the Pats beat the Chiefs 54-0 when they meet this year to watch that arse fume.

Quite. I loved the Chiefs until I realized that their coach is just not a lovable guy.

I agree, a total idiot.. Point of preseason is to get an idea how your players perform..

Couldn't believe he was in the running for COTY last season. Every indicator of a coach's intelligence, strategy, mental toughness, preparation, etc., pointed to him being one of the league's worst coaches.

I wonder how set Haley would have been if the game, you know, actually mattered.

This is entirely possible, give how the teams are set up going into the season.

He is an idiot, he really belongs on the Raiders. I wonder if Weiss would have stayed there if Haley wasnt such a jackhole, Cassel is going to have to work with the 3rd OC in 3 years, how to they expect success with that kind of turnover?

Its the one thing I don't understand about the NFL.

all the *****ing about running up the score.

if you're good enough and professional enough. you don't let the other team run up the score.

    YOU PLAY FOR 60 MINS.

It might just be a preseason game to some, but it's the only time some players will get an opportunity to play and show off what they've got, especially with a truncated offseason. This is the regular season for a lot of players.

I can honestly see that KC team blowing up in an ugly way.

I don't see a lot of strong team leaders (ie...Brady, Mayo, Mankins, Fork and even a guy like Andre Carter).

I also see a coach who makes it way too much about himself.

I was watching a little of last nights game and saw some interaction between Haley and Romeo. All I could do was read Crennel's mind.....".....I used to work under Belichick...now I have to listen to this douche..."

Being from a country in which soccer is far and away the most beloved sport, I have a very hard time with the whole "boo-hoo running up the score" spiel.

In soccer, if you are soundly beating your opponent, the way to show them respect is to keep playing hard and trying to score more goals, indicating that you give your rivals enough value to fear them potentially coming back. If you are beating another team 3-0 with 30 minutes left and simply start passing the ball around the defense, basically just waiting for the game to end, that's disrespectful because it basically means your team gives the opponent no chance, thus devaluing them.

This is so true, I would find it far more disrespectful if they eased off.

Clearly Haley is out of line. You are talking about backups who are trying to make a team and then if they do not make that particular team they are auditioning to make other teams. It does not exactly catch another teams' attention to see a guy in victory formation. Most coaches around the NFL know how to get something out of preseason games, clearly Haley has not figured that out yet and is still clearly out of touch with the rest of the NFL.

This makes absolutely no sense. There is no such thing as running up the score in preseason. The objective isn't to win or to score points. The objective is to evaluate your plays and the players ability to execute those plays. You don't pass opportunity to evaluate a player in a situation because you are afraid of running up the score. This has to be some sort of misquote or taken out of context. Its asinine.

I think it's a media creation that reached its apex in 2007 and since then many coaches and players have bought into it. It's total bull****.
