low grade rumor: Redskins FA safety Laron Landry considering Pats

In this discussion of SS versu FS, the Pats don't play that way. They play Right and Left and have their Safeties do some of both techniques.

Plus Chung was hurt for half the season so they need an in the box releif for him too. Gregory is pencilled as the FS; and McCourtey et all, could be his releif.

Think people, Cogitate. Belichick wants flexibility where he can get it; and does not want to be dependent on only one player at any one position.

This is a disappointing post. I have provided a link from USA Today mentioning Giordano's 4.48 40 yard dash. Futher, inventing a rumor that Landry was actually photo shopping pictures of himself ( which he released on his own twitter account ) is concerning. This message board should not be a forum to slander and rumor monger professional athletes.

The 40 times are directly from his pro day.
There was no rumor invented it was my opinion, and comparing to other pictures of him it seems logical to me.

He ran a 4.48 in a workout at Cal. .. that isn't really any kind of official measurement...the real measures are the one Andy put up,and are backed up by Deus. That article you quote isn't exactly anything more than a second hand account relayed to Schwarz in a quick thumbnail sketch piece. Not worth the argument IMO

FWIW, Greg Bedard said this morning on 98.5 that Landry's physical was "iffy". He did intimate that his source wasn't strong (he said "now don't go print this in the newspaper"), but it does raise some concern about signing the guy for anything more than a value deal.

If there are issues with his physical, that is a red flag, IMO.

His achilles is still hurt - he won't have surgery for whatever reason. I don't know why. But anyone that signs him has to do a completely incentive laden deal, no doubt. He could be IR'd at any point in the season.

That said, no team works the incentive laden prove it deals better than the Pats, so I don't see why this would rule him out for us.

Landry to the Jets then

What really matters is what Giordano does on the field, a lot more that what he does in the underwear olympics. And on the field, Giordano was closing in on speedster Devin Hester and almost caught him from behind (from 0:34 in this vid Matt Giordano - Superbowl Highlights - YouTube)
This shows clearly how fast Giordano is where it matters, on the football field.

If you watch that you'll also see he starts running 10 yards in front of where Hester is and still doesn't catch him.

What the hell are you talking about. When they are both on the same horizontal line, Hester was coming off a small cut and running full spead ahead, while Giordano almost had to stop and change his direction 180 degrees.

After Hester passed his team's 40 yards mark, both of them were running full spead ahead, and Giordano was closing on him all the time.

Actually, this is flat out un-true.

Pause the Clock at 0:32 seconds. You'll see both Hester and Giordano at the 24 yard line. Hester has (after juking a defender) pretty much gotten 3 strides into, what will become, his full sprint. But Giordano? When he's parallel to Hester at the 24, Giordano's body is pretty much at a full stop because he's in the middle of tying to turn around due to Hester now being on the loose. So, he's stopping his own forward momentum and turning around when both are at the 24.

So, if anything; when their little race starts, both are at the same starting point (the 24 yard line); but Hester is already given a 3 strides in advance. Where as Giordano is pretty much stopped (due to changing directions).

But Giordano still closes the gap on Hester (but sadly right on the goal line).

So, yeah. He's fast. Does that make him a ball hawk FS? No. But's he's fast. Give him that much.

A Jet all the way ...

Yes!! Mike Barron or Harrison Smith in the draft please!

The Jets paid Landry 1 year, 4 million. Guess BB didn't want to pay that.

I was torn about the guy. He is Bob Sanders Lite in that he is a stud when he is on the field, but never on the field.

Bedard's report that Landry had an iffy physical turned me off to the guy if true.
