Jets Cut Brett Favre; should the Patriots go after him?

If there is a God, the ol' hillbilly Favre will stay retired this year. I don't feel like listening to that crap for another nine months.

My friend in another part of the company has decided that when Favre goes into the Hall of Fame he's just going to take that whole week off work, he's so sick of people talking about that ol' hillbilly. I told him I'll join you, we'll go someplace where no one cares about football. Like Los Angeles. Or Minnesota.

Just saw this on Espn: Brett Favre's agent Bus Cook reaffirmed Wednesday that the veteran quarterback has no plans to end his retirement now that the New York Jets have released him.

"He's retired, he doesn't have any desire to come back, and that's the way it is with Brett," Cook said. "He's mowing his grass. He's working on his farm. He enjoys that stuff."

Cook said he originally asked the Jets to release Favre after the season as just "the order of business. Brett wants to retire as a Packer and that's just part of it."

Favre could not be reached for comment. As Cook cracked, "He can't hear that phone on his tractor, anyway."

This is almost verbatim what he said about Brett last year. He's coming back.

It's Groundhog Day!

he did --- a couple times.

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yet somehow we are actually debating if Favre would be a good addition to this team.

Here's, a suggestion if you are going to start a thread that is intended to be funny..............make it funny:sleeping:

Yeah, we really need THE HOF veteran gunslinger in here to teach the youngsters how not to manage an offense efficiently and draw up plays in the dirt when watching film just puts you to sleep.
LMAO, My thoughts exactly

I thought it was funny.

If we want a veteran who, if Brady is unable to play, plays just well enough to tease us into believing that we have a shot to make the playoffs, only to find a new way to choke, then there can be no question - Favre's our guy.

Favre released by Jets, free to sign with any team - NFL - CBSSports.com Football

He could serve the vital role of "experinced backup vet QB" that this team has has not had since the departure of Testiverde.

What exactly would he teach ... how to throw the ball up for grabs when being pursued ... the art of being picked off 101, 201, 301.

If there's a team that will allow Favre to sit in a whirlpool between offensive sets then that's the team where he will fit best.

If it was me I would rename my stadium the 'Cialis Dome' and then sign Favre to be my QB.

It's déjà vu all over again: Favre-to-Vikings rumors heat up
By Chris Chase

In a column from today's Chicago Tribune, David Haugh speculates that Favre's release by the New York Jets will pave the way for the 39-year old quarterback to go to Minnesota, the destination he originally desired last year. I expect SportsCenter to lead with this story for the next 57 days. I also expect the rumor to eventually come to fruition.

Oh, officially the Wrangler Jeans-wearing gunslinger says he's not coming back, but he hedged that statement with a classic Favrian qualifier:

"At this time, I am retired and have no intention of returning to football."
Ahh, good ol' "at this time." I like that. At this time I have no intention of calling Favre a faded star who hasn't won anything of consequence in 12 years and is desperately clinging onto his career like a bald guy trying to convince himself that his combover looks good. But, like Favre's plans, that's subject to change.

This is actually a great idea. I noticed that the Pats needed more parking attendents last year. This would be a huge upgrade, and i could get to tailgating much faster. OH,,,,,,you meant sign him as a player?

Drew in Montana says hi! :D

The nation is anxiously watching whether evil genius Brad Childress will outfox Belichick again by stealing him from out under the Patriots' noses!

If we still had the karma thing, that would be a definite +1. ;)
