Yes I know he has been hurt, but what has Woodhead provided this yr that a healthy Kevin Faulk can not? I am not saying cut Woodhead but I think Faulk can provide what Woodhead does and I think is a better blocker on the pass rush.

Let's see///one more season of an aged player on the cusp of losing the thing that distinguishes him besides experience, quickness.
vs
Losing a younger. faster, quicker version and potential multi year replacement who has excelled at everything he's done on the field.

I love Faulk and he's Mr Clutch but guys like Kevin, Tedy and Rodney DO get too old to excel

Did I say cut Woodhead no, I think you keep both on the roster. How do you know Faulk is too old to excel? Let him practice before making that statement.

Too many RBs on the roster. You need to man up and cut a RB if you activate Faulk who is essentially Woodhead but Brady's butt buddy

Again what impact has Woodhead made this year. I want to see Faulk practice but most people on here want him cut before anyone can see what he has left.

I just think it's absurd to expect a 35 year old RB coming off ACL surgery who hasn't played since week 2 last year to come in and beat out an RB who has been fantastic with the ball in his hands for the past year and is plenty adequate in pass protection. It's not a matter of what Woodhead has done so far this season. It's believing that there are tons of better ways to use a roster spot than a pass-blocking specialist whose greatest asset to the team right now is his ability to teach the younger players what he knows.

Belichick has made it clear that he wanted Faulk back. Brady certainly seemed to be looking forward to Faulk's return in his interview today.

I don't see why people can't grasp why a passing team would welcome back its best pass blocking RB, and the player that Brady said has probably been the most clutch teammate he's played with in the NFL. Now, is it possible that things changed during Faulk's stay on the PUP? Sure, but those things don't seem to include Woodhead becoming a man of steel or Vereen proving himself a viable NFL alternative, so I don't see any reason to consider Faulk an automatic outsider once he comes off the list.

Why do you have to cut a RB? 2009 season they carried 5 RB's on the 53 man roster the whole season.

Because they have a 3rd QB, a 6th WR, and a ton of defensive injuries.

I would be surprised if Faulk does not come back, and I would not expect them to release a RB. Another thing to consider is that Ridley and Slater are not the answer for KR when Edelman is out. Also not thrilled with Welker at PR. Faulk can do both at a position with greater depth and less risk.

They just cut 2 defensive players today. I expect Faulk to be back and get a roster spot. I am not sure why people are so against activating Faulk and giving him a shot at coming back. He is worth the roster spot they give to Ventrone every other week.

No offense to Faulk, but I'm pretty sure he'd be the worst kick returner in the league if he were actually doing it.

He averaged 24 yds in 09, about the same as Edelman.

Yes. Two years ago, before his ACL surgery, and before a year off from football.

The difference in the two Faulk positions is whether he can perform like he used to. None of us know. I doubt Faulk knows. The odds are against him. If he can, it makes the decision more difficult. If he can't, there's no decision to be made.

And Faulk would not be any better in KR, unless the cut a receiver I don't see how Faulk makes this team.

I luv woody....but if Faulk is up to par, then he will be in there on 3rd down...why?.....for his blocking and screen pass ability. We're gonna need his ability to block, more than Woodhead's versatility.

From listening to Brady's interview this morning, I expect Faulk to be back A.S.A.P., worked into the rotation, and used quite a bit. From the way he was talking, I think he'd be blindsided if Faulk was cut loose.

Well, the "back A.S.A.P." part didn't take long.....

Vereen may have to get used to the "inactive" label.

With all due respect to how Brady is feeling, I just don't see how Faulk makes the roster. We already have four competent RBs who have done their jobs pretty well so far (and all of them are integrated into ST).

They are just starting to install Vereen into the game plan (he was part of the max protect package yesterday) so why would he suddenly then be stashed on IR?

Faulk, BJGE, Woodhead and Ridley means Vereen is out. Faulk provides more flexibility in the kick return game as well. 3rd and short with Faulk and BJGE in the backfield or slot with Gronkowski, Hernandez, Welker or Branch is frightening to think about for opposing teams. Faulk adds another hammer to the tool box and he's a more physical blocker than Woodhead or Ridley.

Ras I Dowling aka Glass Joe still not practicing. What a pathetic pick, another Belichick disgraceful high second rounder right up there with Chad Jackson.

Brooks Reeds, Jabaal Sheard are two guys who had great weeks and seasons. Both needs for the Pats, both selected AFTER Dowling's corpse. And let's not forget they could have moved up and gotten Watt, Kerrigan, Fairley. By packaging that 2nd 1st round pick and this bum.

If the Patriots do not win it all this year, and the defense is the reason, look no further than this pick as a leading factor.

EL BUSTO. EL BUSTO. EL BUSTO. When the hell is Belichick going to learn on these oft-injured college players. 33rd overall pick should be on the effing field. He should provide an impact.
