so they go from one unprecedented thing to another. watch it nowhere, watch it everywhere...

I'm flabbergasted - I fully expected that just days before the game they'd "magnanimously" make it available in the New England viewing area to all - i.e. Cox and Comcast would carry it.

Beyond that if they decided to give Digital Cable households a free weekend preview that would make financial sense because I'd bet they'd get some converts out of it.

Allowing EVERYONE to watch it for free on regular TV seems to undermine the premise of NFLN in the first place - which is to have games that can only be viewed on Digitial Cable for a fee.

It's great I guess - and it would seem they are putting "history" ahead of profit, which is nice - but I'd probably have not gone quite that far were I in charge of the NFLN.

Have you seen the ratings that Patriots games are getting ? They will make humongous amounts of money on this 3 hours.

I hate John Kerry but between the MLB Extra Innings deal last spring and now this he is starting to grow on me.

Yeah this is small BS compared to the big problems of the world but in reality how many actions of politicians can you feel the immediate and direct impact from? This brings a little joy into my life and in general thats more than 90% of the BS they do in Washington has ever done for me.

One has to wonder about the fine details of this agreement. Obviously, this will be lucrative for all parties involved, NFLN, CBS & NBC, but I wonder the specifics that is making NFLN make this move.

Although I am happy for all those Pats fans who weren't going to see the game who are now, I really hope it wasn't because of John Kerry. I thought Kerry really overstepped his authority as a senator on this one. I don't believe it is the US Government's right or responsibility to make sure that Pats fans throughout the country get to see the Pats play for 16-0. Him threating Congressional hearings if the NFL didn't make this game available to everyone reminds me of what is wrong with our government.

Congressmen and congresswomen should be focusing on real matters of the country and stop using their authority on silly things like this. Is Kerry going to tell us that there weren't real issues that affect people's livelihoods that he couldn't have spent this time dealing with?

I agree. It is ridiculous that the government would step in, especially when you consider that it is soley with regards to the pats-giants game.

NFL Network is owned by the NFL. Some mutually agreed on split of history making ratings will make all sides happy.

I don't care if they dig up Howard Cosell and Red Grange. I was this close to biting the bullet about going to a restaurant/bar in Los Gatos to watch it. For 3 hours though? It's OK if you drink, I guess, but I don't any more.

for any so cal fans, i just called the local nbc affiliate in san diego and they said they'll be broadcasting the game. that is good news for us.
