Ummm, do me a favor. Find me the post that I said Meriweather was a "BUST". That's right, you can't because I NEVER said it! I said Maroney is a BUST and he is. Meriweather is definitely a dissapointment thus far, but I'm willing to wait until next season before I go as far as saying he is a BUSt. Defensive back is different than running back, where you can see FLAT OUT STUDS like Adrian Peterson come into this league and DOMINATE from the start. DUDS like Maroney hang their hat on a YPC stat that is skewed because he plays behind the greatest passing attack of all time and NEVER sees 8 men in the box like the LT's, Larry Johnson's, and Adrian Peterson's see all the time.

These guys always claim we said things we did not.

his running style is same as Larry Johnson, Adrian Peterson , McFadden..upright.

That's like saying Apes are similar to Men because they have an "upright" walking ability. There's no comparison. Maroney is not even in Peterson's, LJ's, or McFadden's league in terms of running ability. He is a solid #2 back right now, if you can overlook the injury bug factor. But he doesn't look like the dominant #1 back that can shoulder the whole offense for you.

u guys said he doesnt want to change his style...it sucks..bla bla bla

ignorance? Thats how some of the great backs run..so its not his running style
other than being upright..what can u say? Hes too fast?

EVERY SINGLE POST YOU'VE MADE TODAY IS A MARONEY BASHING POST...NOTHING IN THE GAME THREADS...NOTHING ANYWHERE ELSE...JUST HERE...ONCE AGAIN BASHING MARONEY INCESSANTLY...WE GOT YOUR POINT weeks AGO...YOU HATE MARONEY...NOW YOU'RE JUST SPAMMING...MOVE ON FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, MAN

Forget 100 yards, McFadden will have at least one 200 yard rushing game in that time frame to go along with his 100 yard games.

And you know this how? Are you clairvoyant? Or are you one of those guys who thinks all studly college players can come into the NFL and dominate from the start?

Get in the game Zebras you're letting Jax catch up :nono:

If you've seen McFadden play, you'd know why I made that statement.
The star players generally DO come in from the start and dominate.
And RB is probably the easiest position for a college player to come in and dominate from their 1st season in the NFL.

Look at Marshawn Lynch, Adrian Peterson, Ladanian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James, Joseph Addai etc. etc.

Calm down my friend. People have every right to discuss players whom are not performing. These are two first round picks here.

I for one find it very odd that Meriweather plays little to no snaps in blowouts at week 12.

I've seen McFadden play. He great in college because he has elite speed to beat any college player. In the NFL, everyone is fast. Furthermore, he is not the punishing power running that you guys seem to want. In fact, he is a pure speed back.

Marshawn Lynch, Adrian Peterson, Ladanian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Edgerrin James, Joseph Addai etc. etc.

Not everyone makes the transition as fast as these guys did.

Absolutely. And at the same time, you shouldn't call young players at age 22 busts.

Danny88 starring in missing the point again...the whole board has been here today in the game thread and other threads...NSA shows up HERE once again....no where else...never commentating on ANYTHING other than his hatred of Maroney and then claims he's "objective!!!"....Objective??? He's a one trick pony, day after day after freaking day....move on for chrissakes

Tell that to LSU when he was running all over them. Oh yeah make sure to tell that to Top 5 projected pick DT Dorsey who anchors that LSU defensive line as well. There was little LSU could do to stop McFadden all day long. And he had plenty of carries between the tackles in that game en route to his 200+ yards and 3 TDs.

I dont think Maroney is a bust. I do think we should draft a pounder with one of the 2nd day picks though.

Can you show me were he showed he was a power back?

I'm pretty upset with both of them as well... but I hope that they start earning their keep, asap.

I am hopeful anyways...

And yes, a really dominating and fast powerback would be a very good pickup!!!!

I would like Michael Turner... a player that the Pats should have drafted a few years back.

I can collect the press clipping sure. But if you've already made up your mind that he can only be a "speed back" there's likely nothing that will change your mind.

Simply put, McFadden is a complete back. He's stout enough (6-foot-2, 205 pounds) to run between the tackles, fast enough (4.4 in the 40) to lose defenders in the open field. He's a threat catching passes out of the backfield, and he's even taken direct snaps on occasion in Gus Malzahn's funky offense (and thrown a touchdown pass to Wes Murphy).

http://footballsfuture.com/2008/prospects/darren_mcfadden.html

McFadden is the total package. He has excellent size, speed, and athleticism. He is a willing interior runner, and will not be brought down by the first defender. Once a hole opens up, he hits it and is in the open field ready for a big play. What makes McFadden special is that he is a gamebreaker, along with being a guy that can pound it between the tackles. He has the speed to get to the outside, and the speed to outrun defensive backs.

Strengths: A franchise running back in every sense of the word; Darren McFadden will carry the offense on his shoulders…Athletic with 4.4 speed and shiftiness…Versatile - can make the catch out of the backfield…Is going to fight for yards after the initial hits…Smooth runner between the tackles and can break it to the outside with his second gear…Good stiff arm and sells his jukes.

Cowboys Targeting Darren McFadden in the 2008 NFL Draft

So the better question might be: Is Darren McFadden worthy of two first round draft picks? Absolutely; he is a complete running back with power, size and speed. He can get that first down on a 4th and one, but he also has the speed to take that same hand off all the way to the end zone. He has great hands and can catch the ball very well out of the backfield. He even has a decent arm and has thrown a TD pass or two in his career. He is the type of player that defenses must account for on every play. Plus, who else would they draft? Cornerback? Receiver? Maybe, both are needs, but there isn't either a corner or receiver that just jumps out at you as a "must have" first round talent.

"He's a great back," Fulmer said. "He's a fantastic back and it comes back to having those big chunks of yards to end up with numbers like that. It's incredible."
Aided by Felix Jones' 166 rushing yards, Arkansas rolled up 542 yards of turf on South Carolina. There's no secret about Arkansas' attack. The Hogs will visit Knoxville in an attempt to do the same thing: run over and around the Vols.

Arkansas will put McFadden everywhere and have him do a little bit of everything. Just like late last season, the Hogs' package with McFadden taking a shotgun snap is becoming a bigger part of the offense.
"It's hard to defend," Fulmer said. "There's good misdirection with it and they have speed and can get on the corner with you in a hurry. And then they've got the power part of it as well and can run the football up inside. So it requires a lot of discipline to take care of that."

McFadden possesses the most impressive mix of power and speed in the country, drawing comparisons to the likes of Hall of Famer Eric ****erson for his effortless, upright running style.

His Reggie Bush-esque versatility led to the creation of the “Wildhog” formation, in which he lines up in the shotgun as quarterback with fellow 1,000-yard rusher Felix Jones standing at his side - in three passing attempts on the year, McFadden has tossed two touchdowns, including one against South Carolina.

BTW The formation where McFadden takes the snap directly from center is called the 501. Arkansas and McFadden executed that formation perfectly in the LSU game. McFadden also threw for a TD pass out of that formation as well as running from it. McFadden is an offensive weapon that gives his coach multiple options. That's about all the profiles I felt like hunting up for now, I'm sure there will be more generated before draft time in 2008 that will be even more relevant. But considering the evidence, your "painting" of McFadden as nothing more than a "speed back" is unjustified to say the least.
